Charity Shield - Post Match Thread

The biggest take home from that game is this...

Chelsea will not come close to challenging us this year.

I expected Fabregas and Morata to be all guns blazing after the World Cup snubs, and Jorginho was very, very poor in possession.

We looked hungry for the win today. It will bring confidence to the squad.
Foden was a real handful today. Berni showing his true talent, we just weren’t as clinical as we could be. Great to see Diaz get a few minutes too. Mendy looking strong, Mahrez moving well, as for Kun, brilliant. He looks like a new player.
We could easily have had 4 or 5, tighten that up and we will be immense again this season.
Merlin, KDB, Razza, all rested as well!
I thought Sane would have been more involved and energetic. He seemed lethargic and disinterested. He’s had the summer off, I assumed he would have been right up for it.
Pity Liverpool have already won the league, we will just hope to avoid relegation.

I would say rusty is nearer the mark. If he shows any sign of disinterest (which I dont think he did), he will find himself out the door

Surprised how well the players who have had no actual pre season hit the ground running, aguero got motm for his two goals but Bernardo was sublime in his more familiar central role, pleased Foden had a cracking game and Diaz as well when he came on unlucky not to score. Can’t think of any negatives bar maybe sane not coming out second half due to getting a slight knock (possibly explains him not being involved much first half)..

Lol at some of you guys, you don't agree with me good, he's been a great player but is now in decline get over it. And as for
MOM Bernardo

I've got to say that your football knowledge would fit on the back of a postage stamp even if you used a crayon and capital letters.

Fuck me I can't believe you seriously believe what you posted...

B.Silva absolutely brilliant.

Yep and that's the biggest take home message on the day, for me. Despite the great contributions of his 1st season, I believe he will have a breakout year

Still think a goalscorer is needed along with a young holding mid to give quality depth

Bernardo and Phil, superb.

Solid mins for the rest of team, Aguero sharp for his chance and otherwise linking up well.

Really disappointed with Sane, interesting to see if he starts next week v Arsenal.

I'm in Picafort in Majorca and was adamant( not the 80s pop star) it was 4 pm kick off. Anyway eventually found a pub with it on and watched the last 35 mins with no sound( got Agueros 2nd with seconds to spare. But it looked very much a friendly and I was surprised at just how easy it was for us. Ooo and can we mention the treble?? ; -)
