Charlie Austin

He'll suffer from second season syndrome, a decent finsher and that's the only string to his bow.
Check his goal scoring record out. Archer.

At a lower level Gaylord, it happens every year, check Pappis Cisse, Jelavic, Odemwingie, the only English striker I'd take is Rodriquez as he has more to his game than just finishing.

Harry Kane may well join that list.

So.....that wasn't him that put in a pinpoint cross for their second? or was generally running our back line ragged for 90 mins?

So we should buy him based on one game where we were a shambles and lucky to get a draw against a team that was bottom of the league? he works hard and is a decent finisher but that's it, he lacks pace, his link up play's average, not the most skillful.

He's no Zlatgod.

From that little narrative,im not sure you even saw the game.Other than the desirable qualities you mention above,i provided you one excellent example of evidence that proves he has far more to his ability than you credit him with.
And it isn't one game.......he's been a handful most of his career, just happens this season he's stepped up a gear.

Young, imposing,a teamplayer, homegrown and improving - all i'm saying is......he's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Charlie Austin is average. Yes, he played extremely well on Saturday but, in the grand scheme of things, he's mediocre. I remember when people were clammouring for Grant Holt to be given an England cap, and Rickie Lambert is currently proving he's nothing to write home about after his period of being the best striker England have ever seen.

The fact Austin is even in the vicinity of being thought of for an England cap just demonstrates the complete lack of talent available to England at this stage. If you look at the current squad there's only 2 players to have reached double figures when it comes to goals, Rooney, and Wellbeck (just, with 11), the nearest after that is Theo Walcott who, despite playing 36 times for England, has just 5 goals, 3 of which came in 1 game! Look back in the 1990's, we had the likes of Andy Cole (15 caps), Robbie Fowler (26 caps), Stan Collymore (3 caps), Ian Wright (33 caps) all of whom were prolific strikers for Englands top clubs, yet couldn't really get a look in for England, now you've got Jay Rodriguez, Rickie Lambert and Andy Carroll getting games, with people like Austin being included in the picture. Throughout the pitch the current crop of England "talent" is very, very average so, actually, maybe Charlie Austin would fit right in.

We have a talent making players seem World Class against us but we shouldn't buy a player off the back of it. Remember the game last year v Cardiff where one of their wingers ran us ragged also. Where is he now?

Totally agree with the above. I don't care that he is homegrown or about his age or workrate. We need to change our mentality completely as a football club. If he was 21 and cheap then you could play the potential card but at 25 he isn't worth going for. This is a club that is trying to compete with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. We need to be buying players that are world class not players that work hard have a couple of excellent games here and there and might make an impact. We've made a lot of mistakes transfer wise going for players like this. We need to be looking at improving our first team, not improving our squad. That's where we have gone wrong.

What a load of shit. Heads will be rolling if City even considered looking at this guy. So far away from the quality we need.
