I also don't know what the club expects. Managers like Conte and Mourinho, with their overly, physically intensive training methods (run, run, run until you legs fall off) have a really short life-span. Their football is dull, their training methods are unpopular, their tactics are unpopular with both players and fans, it was obvious that as soon as results begin to go wrong, the very few who were willing to give those methods and tactics an opportunity lose faith in it quickly. There is nothing to believe in with these managers. Nothing about them that pulls you in.
Look at City after last season. You weren't happy with how the season went and the quality of some of the players in your team, but you knew the club and manager were building towards something. There's none of that at Chelsea. Neville said the other day, looking at the transfers we have made under Conte, that it'll take years undo this Conte era. Even if he leaves tomorrow, we're still left with Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Alonso on long term contracts. Moses and Cahill both signed new contracts in the last 2 years. That is 7 players that have no business playing for Chelsea at this level. It's patently obvious that Conte does not want to be here, so essentially, if anybody has downed tools, it is Conte himself.
