Chelsea (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

When I remember that miserable Tottenham took 5 points from us this season, it honestly makes me mad.
If we lose the league to Arsenal, those are exactly the games that cost us the title — not the big clashes, but the points dropped where you’re expected to dominate.
Should have had a pen in the home game and one of their goals disallowed away

(We still played poorly)

Looks like a very young crowd at Chelsea

I wasn’t there but I’m guessing that’s the reason for the non-stop singing.

That “fan” they kept showing, if he’s disabled, then it’s on the tv studio and it’s out of order showing him being weird. If he’s actually a grown man that took a bottle with the arsenal logo into the game, and then those shirts with messages on, our fan base is absolutely ruined by weirdos
The only weirdo is you , its called banter , give and take , what do you do for fun ? Stick pins in your mad eyes.

Title decider against Arsenal. If we win, they will absolutely collapse.
They have already collapsed, which is going unreported.

City League Cup - Lost
Southampton FA cup - Lost
Sporting CL - stoppage time goal win
Bournemouth PL - Lost

And another thing that didn't happen,

City Arse - convincing win
City Dips - convincing win
City Chelsea - convincing win

By my quick maths, we've dropped 9 points so far to the bottom 5, for comparison, we've dropped 10 points to the top 6 (removing us) albeit with 1 fewer game played across the top 6.

Any failure this season would 100% be on our inability to beat the bottom teams. Losing the league to 5 dropped points against Spurs is unacceptable, it's also unacceptable to have given Spurs 4 points in their relegation scrap. Had we just beaten them twice, we'd have the league within touching distance and Spurs would currently be 6 points off safety. Just have to hope we can correct part of it ourselves and win the league and west ham/forest/leeds do enough to send Spurs down.

banger? good laugh on the bus maybe, but shite for the stadium
That said, incredible from City away yet again, loud throughout and I think sky fucked up and miked us up rather than down for a change...

You’d be surprised…was belted out a few times today in the away end, as well as pretty popular in the South Stand concourses. Admittedly mostly by the younger brigade.

Would love to know exactly how Pep changed things at half-time tactically.

I don't think we played that much faster in the second half. We were alright in the first half I thought, we just lacked a bit of quality in Chelsea's third and were occasionally left a bit open to their long balls.

But in the second half we found that bit of quality and suddenly Nunes and O'Reilly were both contributing to overloads on both wings. But we weren't being hit by those long balls anymore despite committing more bodies.

In the first half we sort of set up like this in possession:

Nunes Khusanov Guehi-----------
Semenyo Rodri Bernardo O'Reilly
--------------Cherki---------Doku---
-------------Haaland----------------

In the second half it was more like this:

---------Khusanov Guehi------------
----------Rodri Bernardo------------
Nunes---------Cherki---------O'Reilly
----Semenyo--Haaland--Doku----

But we managed to stay steady, stop them building anything, and we set up in that sort of pentagon formation round the penalty area that Pep likes. Nunes and O'Reilly were both high but we never looked top-heavy.

Fairly 'even stevens' in the first half, Chelsea maybe marginally better, but only really one team in it after Peps half time rocket .... Cherki exceptional, O'Reilly impressive until he departed, Doku and Semenyo constant thorns in Chelsea's side, Guehi and Khsanov lookin good.

Should be some game next Sunday..... will Arsenal become the first team to bottle a nine point lead at this late stage of the season ?? If any team can, they can!

...
I'm really pleased Doku got a goal. He runs his socks off but gets so much stick on here for his efforts. Without him and Cherki we'd create nothing.
He was very good today. Opposition are shit scared of him and double up on him. He still gets stick from Blues but the opposition respect him.
