Chelsea (a) post match thread

I live on planet earth mate so no, no frustration here.
Oh right so chucking away last minute goals at home to everton, leading 2-0 against spurs and chucking it away, witnessing the worst referreing performance in history in the 1-3 vs chelsea and all the others and you are on planet earth are you? Ok.

Clichy is an enigma - monstrously good one game - unable to clear the ball from under his feet the next. Generally, the opposition (even poor teams) can smell a goal against us - drop the ball into our box three times and we'll clear it twice but scuff it next time. We need some physically imposing full backs with the technique to do what Pep wants. Vinnie was quite superb tonight - no signs of rustiness.

So could you with that deflection ;) You didn't answer his question.
No blue expected to be fighting for top 4, they expected a title challenge. It's only natural to be disappointed with the way the season has played out.

I think the hierarchy over-estimated his impact. He needs a lot of money to be successful, good job we've got shit loads.
There's not a club anywhere which could compete for the title without a top keeper and with their Captain out for almost the entire season and without two fullbacks. You could say that was Guardiola's choice, but transfer's don't always work out. Bravo didn't work out. We took a risk with Kompany. We had tried to sign Laporte and he backed out of the move. Not buying a central defender may yet be a good move if Kompany can complete his come back.

I think we have seen enough from Sane, KDB, Silva, Sterling and Jesus to know that when they combine together the chances and goals will come. Keep Kompany, get a keeper and two full backs and we'll be Champions.

Pep: "It's an honour to have the amazing players I have. We come here to Stamford Bridge and play the way we have, with huge personality."

I have no idea what he even means when he says this sort of thing anymore.

Totally agree. Mancini's title- winning side would destroy tonights team. Yaya in his prime, Silva and Kun with an extra yard to hurt the opposition, Kompany, Zabba and Hart at their best, and NDJ and Barry putting out fires all over the pitch. Our biggest failing in recent history was not backing Mancini in the transfer market and getting him the top quality players he wanted. If we had we would have been Champions for years.

Ah well!!.......

All valid points and components, but it forgets the most important figure in what HAD changed us from losers to winners; Tevez.

What an absolute Fu*ker to play against he was. The guy was just a winner, a total cold blooded killer. Did not care what shirt he had on or what side of the city he played for, he would bleed for the fans and carry his team over the line. Brought United AND city titles in the closing stages of the season two years in a row
Absolute elite mentality who would not EVER give in. What I would do for a prime Tevez in this Pep regime

Keep believeing the hype. Tell me how we have improved?

Sane, Jesus, Stones. Sterlings been sharper this season. Possession wise we have improved and will only get better. Overall there's more youth in the squad compared to last season and Kompanys just played a full 90 minutes. I for one am very optimistic about the future.

pep has not come up to scratch this season but we have to give him a free pass. next season he will have nowhere to go, he has to perform.
The owners of this club have not got him to put him under pressure and, if he wanted to sign a new contract, they'd snap his hand off. I think next season might be too soon as well to be honest.
If getting players to play how he wants was easy, everyone would be doing it. It obviously isn't and quite a few of the current squad have demonstrated it's beyond them. I think it's quite refreshing that we've got a principled man at the helm who won't compromise on how he thinks the game should be played. If we'd wanted practical, no nonesense football, we'd have got Mourinho and been watching Ibrahimovic. That's not turned out quite how they imagined, I wouldn't have thought and I wouldn't swap it for quids. Let's see where we are in 2020, as I reckon we'll be absolutely flying. Onwards and upwards.

Actually think there's more positives than negatives about tonight. Away to what are hands down the best team in the league we only lost to 2 lucky goals in a game that we dominated, a game where we created numerous chances and our defence looked a million times more solid with a seemingly fully-recovered Kompany.

With both Kompany and soon Jesus back in the side I'm pretty confident about the run in.
Don't talk sense.

Ermmm. Back that up. Come at me and tell me the side that WON the title whilst continuously coming back from difficult positions, wouldnt comprehensively slap this side around?
This side that will seriously struggle to get into the CL spaces
Don't remember the last time, if ever, this lot have every come back from behind away from home to win?
The talent this side has will get it so far (around 4th place it seems), but there is no way the mentality and will of Mancini's 2012 side would not do enough to beat the side now, thats all I said and I stand by it.

Cheers mate.

Just go back and read your last post because it says it all. Your backing a team that was in its height compared to a team that needs rebuilding at the back Since Bobby was in charge. Rolled over and died you said, abysmal mentality....oh dear.

I'd have done Sterling for Navas and Toure for Fernandiho. We struggled to get behind Chelsea and Toure isn't afraid of shooting from distance and is, arguably, our best option at that. Not saying we would have got anything mind. The world is full of people wise after the event.

This thread sums up what it wrong with City today. A bunch of self-righteous moaning minnies saying its not this its not that. If you knew anything about football you would see that with a few additions in defence and possibly a leader in midfield, we will be unstoppable. We created chances tonight, they were on target, we were just a bit unlucky and could easily have drawn or won that game. FFS just give it a rest and wind your necks in.

Every clubs supporters are moaners when things don't happen. It's never been any different on here, just the volume of members and expectations/disappointments aligning to the current ambition of our club.

The last 3 years have been 'could/should/would' haves. Of course it's going to rub people up the wrong way.

Our defense is shit and they are 2 members of it, I do disagree with you and the sooner they are replaced the better, so go be happy and let others state their opinions of how they see the state of the team
I'd rather pull people up on their shit opinions thanks. Delph wasn't playing in defence by the way and Vinny had a decent first game back after injury. Those two are facts, although you do score bonus points for saying our defence is shit. Sadly you've picked out the wrong two players who contribute to that.

Football wise? Immeasurably but your not interested in either seeing it or listening how so i wont bother.

You won't bother because you can't. There is no measurable progress. Pep has inherited new, better players, but we will have a worse season than last, how is that progress? You are the deluded by the hype. He has not made any progress at all, and it pains me to say that, no matter what you think. We will finish maybe 4th, which is no prgress from last season & we are already put of the CL, which is worse than last season. We are out of the league cup, which is worse than last season. We may win the FA cup which will equal he LC last season, so overall no improvement. Surrendering games to top 6 teams doesn't show any signs of us moving forward either.

and Pep sayeth, " We have won ten matches, wait, we will lose soon, we will lose many " !

Pep has a big ego , perhaps he is dragging us down to big up the renaissance !
