Chelsea (a) post match thread

The 'we only score tap-ins' line was the one that got me - it's one of the hardest things in football to do, and we are the best in the league at it

Hull might fancy their chances, they might get something but that isn't unique to us - Hull drew at United, Swansea beat Liverpool and Palace beat Chelsea etc.

We will go for it on Saturday and if we score enough tap-ins we will win. I'm looking forward to it
Maybe Pep can add 'Tap in Champs' to his cv

Nowt to do with pep first off...

Its the same old faces who are slowing the game up(silva), the same striker playing mostly with his head down, same lack of self belief from the established wingers/fullbacks(training must be the same 1 drill over and over), same lack of any kind of ability to nutmeg/wrongfoot etc(other than perhaps sane), same lack of urgency, same lack of anything unpredictable, same lack of willingness to play direct instead of pulling back and moving the ball square again and again...could go on.

Slow, unimaginative, and painfully predictable. The squad needs world class additions that already have a winning mentality. Let me ask a serious question here...which players other than yaya and tevez(long gone) have arrived from top european teams used to dominating week in week out? Really struggling to think of any here...this summer window needs to be the one where a few players(like isco)arrive from some of the very best clubs in the world. As i think adding young kids to the situation(unless of gabriel jesus quality) is not going to help with this mentality situation.

World class marque signings or pep will struggle again next season...calling that now and i'm willing to bet money.

Wont even mention the defense at this point.

I'm worried what our kids are learning from these gutless under achievers.

Just got on the train. Talking to a few Chelsea fans, their opinion was we were by far the best team they have played and we should have won. On a positive Delph had a good game but again full backs were shocking
Watched it on BT Sport. I thought we played a good game, especially 1st half and then CFC changed tactics and it was very difficult for us to create chances. best thing for me was Kompany come back. he had an unlucky game getting a deflection on their goal, and then nicking it away from Stones when he was about to put it in at the death. But it was great to see his commitment. Difficult to say how good he was defensively as CFC decided to sit on it for half a game.

I thought Navas did well. Clichy is struggling.

Why isn't Pep using his subs? Four games in a row where we desperately need a goal, and he leaves subs on the bench.

This thread sums up what it wrong with City today. A bunch of self-righteous moaning minnies saying its not this its not that. If you knew anything about football you would see that with a few additions in defence and possibly a leader in midfield, we will be unstoppable. We created chances tonight, they were on target, we were just a bit unlucky and could easily have drawn or won that game. FFS just give it a rest and wind your necks in.
Great post.

Didn't the shambles of a side the Chav inherited thrash these lot a year ago?

Backwards with JG.

Shhhh, we never lost a game under that man or at least that's the folklore that has been handed down on here.
I loved Mancini but pep is in a different league

I get the impression that some people wan him to fail for some reason , we have some weird fans

Selection of results from Bobbys transition season 2010/11

Sunderland 1 city 0
City 0 Arsenal 3
Wolves 2 city 1
City 1 city 2
Villa 1 city 0
United 2 city 1
Chelsea 2 city 0
Liverpool 3 city 0
Everton 2 city 1

A MANAGER NEEDS TIME TO ASSESS HIS RESOURCES AND MAKE CHANGES THE FOLLOWING SEASON

Again, apples and oranges.

That season was a huge success; this season - not so.

The comparison to be drawn, forgetting results would be silverware and final league position. There are simalarities to be drawn, but they don't mean much in the whole scheme of the two seasons.

Yep and yet there has been barely a murmour in the media about how below expectations we have been, of course Pep needs another year to bed in his own players and the style of play he wants but some of his team selections are worrying , he can thank Wenger for avoiding some of the spotlight this season , whats frustrating is how quickly Conte has adapted and produced a team of winners from a team in turmoil last season

To be honest, I back Pep for next season & hope he comes good. I'm just calling out this season & saying IMO he has not been good enough so far. He needs to be given the chance to progress, but if he doesn't then he shouldn't be beyond being criticised.

That's harsh. They were all giving their all. Only a few lacked the quality and they bring down around them. My beef has always been the same,we are simply not good enough to to rotate. You play your best 11. Pep refuses and that is why we are where we are.

Proper teams don't 'chuck games away' and they certainly don't do it several times, and reasonable human beings don't blame 'the referees' for being 14 points behind a team who've beaten us in both games this season.
You are right mate, we are simply shit.

Why isn't Pep using his subs? Four games in a row where we desperately need a goal, and he leaves subs on the bench.
This is a huge question mark for me this season. Peps substitutions have been generally poor all season. They don't attempt to expose clear opposition weaknesses or shore up issues with our defending and the timings of the substitutions are just wierd.

I'd be tempted to drop Sergio on Saturday and play kdb and sane wide and Sterling through the middle though in reality they'll be interchangeable.
