The earlier we learn to be pragmatic in our spending, the better it will be. When Kante seemed available for a reasonable price last time, we came up with excuses why we didn't need him. There were a number of points to that argument not least the notion that 'he is not a pep player'. We got a Pep player instead for good money and thankfully he's improving with everg passing game but we missed a trick by turning our backs away when there was a chance to get a top bracket signing. Make no mistakes, there are OK players but there are players that set you on a whole new level. Even now when I see comments on BM I get the impression that people care more about us playing to Pep's style than on winning trophies. People will rather have a holding midfielder and defender that can pass even though his ability to do his basic job is just above average than the one that does his job exceptionally whilst having an ok amount of ability on the ball because we must play the Pep way as though this automatically guarantees success. At the start of the season Pep played Dinho at DM and we didn't look bad a team at all. Someone else put it better in the match day thread when he said that for us it's been a downward movement sinice we won the league. We need to by to win; every other objective comes secondaryCongratulations to Sunderland for beating us tonight ....or so it seems to some. We got beat by the best team in the league who this year decided to try. Not some master stroke from conte, this is the Chelsea team that pissed the league the season before. We are short of two fullbacks who attack and a central midfielder who actually gets in the box. All this shit about pep being clueless is fucking laughable....we are where we should be this year and if it's not better next season then start questioning the manager.
