Chelsea (a) post match thread

Congratulations to Sunderland for beating us tonight ....or so it seems to some. We got beat by the best team in the league who this year decided to try. Not some master stroke from conte, this is the Chelsea team that pissed the league the season before. We are short of two fullbacks who attack and a central midfielder who actually gets in the box. All this shit about pep being clueless is fucking laughable....we are where we should be this year and if it's not better next season then start questioning the manager.
The earlier we learn to be pragmatic in our spending, the better it will be. When Kante seemed available for a reasonable price last time, we came up with excuses why we didn't need him. There were a number of points to that argument not least the notion that 'he is not a pep player'. We got a Pep player instead for good money and thankfully he's improving with everg passing game but we missed a trick by turning our backs away when there was a chance to get a top bracket signing. Make no mistakes, there are OK players but there are players that set you on a whole new level. Even now when I see comments on BM I get the impression that people care more about us playing to Pep's style than on winning trophies. People will rather have a holding midfielder and defender that can pass even though his ability to do his basic job is just above average than the one that does his job exceptionally whilst having an ok amount of ability on the ball because we must play the Pep way as though this automatically guarantees success. At the start of the season Pep played Dinho at DM and we didn't look bad a team at all. Someone else put it better in the match day thread when he said that for us it's been a downward movement sinice we won the league. We need to by to win; every other objective comes secondary

I'm pretty consistent at hating our managers ;)

Truth is i support them in the main but i dont get attached because like players they come and go, often when you dont want them too!

One constant is us the fans ad that's what should always be remembered.

It happened, how cringeworthy of you to argue against it.

A team with players costing 50m, 25m, 54m, 25m, 38m, 40m along with others is not allowed to be compared to a team that won? They were only at their height because they won.
Their mentality was superb, they were men and they suffered no fools when the going got tough
What is your point, are you arguing they wouldn't man handle this lot?

I don't get what your problem is, its a forum with opinions and you can't counter-act mine with anything other that childish responses, which doesn't befit your username

If i was being childish I would be calling you names (which i haven't), you said we rolled over and died tonight, we didnt. Abysmal mentality yet we went forward at every opportunity !!! I feel proud tonight because we played great but didnt convert those chances. Times change and so does a playing swuad...my problem is that you suggest we were absymal and lacked fight which was totally incorrect

Again, apples and oranges.

That season was a huge success; this season - not so.

The comparison to be drawn, forgetting results would be silverware and final league position. There are simalarities to be drawn, but they don't mean much in the whole scheme of the two seasons.
So if we win the fa cup and finish 3rd would it not be the exact same season ?

Pretty similar , do you agree ?

Just been looking at the match stats on bbc football,if you saw them without knowing the result you would think we won, this I think shows that we are doing some things right. We are probably about 70% of where pep wants us to be, Im not sure that one summer is enough, but we are heading towards what pep wants and thats why he was hired. Football really is the beautiful game when played in the right way, Im sure we all want our team to win in the right way so lets hope we can consolidate top 4, maybe win FA cup, that would be a good season all things considered and maybe next year we will be nearer to where pep wants and challenging for top honours with football played the right way.

Anyone defending guardiola tonight instantly discredits themselves. He can have a bad night you know.

Shocking set up, we effectively put two players on to do what Kante does, but some claim he isn't good enough for us ffs. And while we are at it, Delph was 10 times the player Fernandinho was tonight. He was absolutely shocking once again and I do hope we sell him this Summer. Simply not at our level.

Tactically what was Pep thinking playing Sane, KDB and Silva so far forward, we were left with none of them getting anything due to his tactics.

And Sterling got his first touch on 87 mins thanks to this genius.

Pep needs to take a long look at himself after this one.
