Chelsea (a) post match thread

Okay. You must like the Fernandinho who has been shite all season so. Red cards, penalties, 2 goal conceded average when he runs for middle, zero assists...yeah he's been great.

I have a lot of time for Fernandinho. I think he's one hell of a footballer. Pep has that seen and has over managed him. If he'd just been left to play in his natural place, he'd be fine

Disappointed tonight, thought we played well enough for at least a point great to see Kompany back hope he can stay fit(though probably back on bench Saturday) confident Pep will get it right I think, but he's dropped some ricks for me this season starting with the keeper if Hart wasn't the answer what was the question if the two we've got now are.

So if we win the fa cup and finish 3rd would it not be the exact same season ?

Pretty similar , do you agree ?

I don't disagree there are similarities. Though the 'club' they took over were completely different attitude, previous success and playing squad wise. Not to mention their perceived managerial records prior. Like I said, apples and oranges.

We were, apart from Sergio, Clichy, Navas and Caballero who were average to poor plus De Bruyne and Fernandinho who had absolute shockers. Unfortunately having 5 players on it out of 11 is about as much use as an underwater hairdryer.
I think that's a good point. Over the course of the season that's been correct on many occasions. Not always the same 5 but often enough some variation. You're right, no team will win anything when so many are so often going missing or making basic errors.

is it just me but i thought we played really well, with two players starting for the first time this season.

Guardiola has taken us from having the oldest to one of the youngest squads in one transfer window! add to that his two best signings getting long term injuries, add to that him reinventing Sterling!

hes doing alright!

(it could be worse, we could have paid £89m for the most expensive player in the world to prance about in the dressing room making audition tapes for a spot on strictly come dancing)!

Good man, I like your positivety, just don't go on the post match thread, you might just top yourself

We had to win the game tonight.

Well we didn't. And we were never going to with a tactic they saw our best ball players isolated.

Chelsea pissed themselves laughing as we were left with either Clichy or Navas as the ones trying to create. Conte played Pep for a fool, again.

But we have all th possession stats and in Pep's world that's some moral victory.

Story of the season. Not getting the results our play deserves. Pep is exactly right though, not good enough in either penalty area - costs us every game it seems.

He's living off the first ten games of the season, I like the lad but he hasn't been good enough since the away game at Spurs.

We lost so we weren't ace.

Another one on the 'promised so much, but delivered nothing' list from this season.

you can play well and lose/draw mate, look at Everton last night!

Gotta look at the bigger picture, and when he sorts the defence out in the summer, we will be unstopperble!

(thats coming from a season ticket holder of 18 years)!

Well, we played better football and had more chances than the team top of the league, so we weren't exactly awful.

Just the usual failings and a bit of bad luck stopping us taking the points, again.

There haven't been many games this season where we've been clearly second best. Spurs away, Everton and Leicester are about all i can remember.

I thought we were the only team whom wanted to play football, we played well, and missed some absolute sitters. Our decision making was of a team devoid of confidence as we had plenty of opportunities to open them up and score. Chelsea wee lucky, willy had a shocker (IMO) Delph gave us some much needed injection in midfield tbh. Just so glad to see Kompany back!! Think we ain't far off - Pep is learning why it's so tough in the Prem! Another thing - bit off topic how many corporate fans - do we have.....

If your going to quote stats at least be fair about it.

We also had more shots, more chances created etc etc. Kompany summed it up well. Chelsea don't need a lot of chances to score.

Pep also summed it up well. We are absolutely dire in both boxes.

I was pleased with the way we played tonight. A few obvious tweaks and we will fly next year.
Just don't let apathy cause us to drop out of the top 4. Exciting times :-)

Loving this season overall! Some great moments (including beating Barcelona finally!), and at times the best football I've seen a City team play. Can't wait for next year, and if we manage to win the Cup and get top 3, that'd be alright!

And it was those first 10 games that had Pep thinking he was a fucking world beater. He then started to use him outside of what he does best. Like I said. Over managed.
