Chelsea(A) - Post Match Thread

Fernandinho has been a revelation in recent weeks. I thought he'd lost it. But his movement is now on song with what Pep needs. Fantastic game today.

Delph, Stones, Otamendi, all brilliant. The forward players of course have it nailed.

Oh and the injury in the last minute may have been a blessing in disguise if it isn't serious but keeps Kev from intl duty!

Wait for match of the day tonight. They will give us the minimum of praise they can get away with, whilst talking about how poor Chelsea were.

Our 'rubbish' defence conceded no league goals in the whole month of September despite playing three teams in the top 6.

And in all competitions in the month in seven games scored 25 and conceded just 1 all the month with a second string winning away in the league cup at what was then another team in the top 6.

Today was no one off the media can wish away. That record speaks volumes.

Brilliant performance. SerIously good. At 0-0 was thinking Chelsea still might nick it as they're really difficult to break down. And Delph was a revelation - now I understand Pep's comments last season about him giving us something different. I'll take that any day of the week.

So manager of the month for Maureen then.

A couple of comments stood out in the interviews after the match for me. One was De Bruyne saying Pep told them pre season they have to come to detest losing and the other was Delph explaining how the plan was to stay with their runners on the break. All great teams detest losing with a passion and hopefully we are getting this now. Last season at home they killed us on the break and this time they weren't given a sniff. Superb all round performance.

Much more of this and I’m going to have to let go of my 50 plus years of ingrained City pessimism.

That doesnt mean an injury, given the shift he put in it could simply have been fatigue.

Lets wait for something substantial before posting assumptions.

Holding his back, wincing. It's an injury mate. It may not be anything major, but it was enough to make him come off so late in the day. As I said, it could be just enough to keep him off intl duty, which would be no bad thing.

Utter shite!! How could we dominate the reigning champions so completely yet only win 1-0?
Mind you, Chelsea have slipped since they sold that Anthony Taylor bloke.
That performance sent out several messages: Yes we can cope against proper opponents, yes we can cope without Sergio, yes KDB can still come up with the goods, yes Delph isn't just a squad player - he's improving under Pep.
That header from Dino, the shot from Gabby J that hit the Chelsea player's head (or was it a headed clearance?), the attack where the first City forward got a touch which took it away from the second who would surely have scored. It was an excellent performance from every player.

I'd have a bad back if I had the whole of Chelsea's midfield and defence in my pocket.
