Chelsea(A) - Post Match Thread

Absolutely huge win for us. Just watched it back on tv. We were immense, the pressure we applied when we didn't have the ball was amazing. This is the city I have been waiting my whole life to see.
Delph had another top game. He's carving himself out a position there.

First off, I'm a Gooner so that's out of the way

I watched tonight's game at Chelsea

I thought you were absolutely fantastic

I loved the skill, passing and the technique

Lovely football

Sadly we have no chance for the Title but if you Mancs can maintain that level of football you deserve it

Also I hate both Man Yoo and Mourinho so that would work too

Quite simply the perfect performance, the epitome of a Pep team.

We just looked so confident, so assured and so exciting. We dominated possession but with a real purpose and intent, we created chances against arguably the best defensive team in the country with ease and we nullified any counter attacks before they even begun.

I don't want to single any individuals out because that was a complete 'team' performance. The sheer effort and determination to regain possession was just as important as the skill and intelligence, it shows we have character and bags of it.

Just got in so I haven't read any of the thread. That performance today was absolutely fucking class! We totally bossed it against a very good Chelsea team. Not many teams will do that at their place. I can't fault any of the players, they all had good games, special shout for Delph, he has looked brilliant since he's come back in. How good was the goal! Happy days!

THIS ^^^^^ is why Pep comes in, cleans house of the bad uns, fixes the mentality and only buys players with the "correct" mentality. It is also why Sergio looks like a changed man this year, and why Gabriel, who was playing CF, was defending at RB in the second half!

The amount of graft being put in is off the charts, and I'd like to see the stats on the distance covered by City vs the opposition this season. We are very efficient, as Pep wants the ball to move quickly, not have players run with the ball, but the effort to recover is the highest I have ever seen it in a City team full of world class players.

Thanks for the comments. Thats the key thing maintaining that level of performance or approaching it.

We put in a similar performance last season (first half) at Old Trafford but in other games were hardly recognisable. Things do feel different this time but there is a long way to go.

Well our so called shitty defence was so tight that their best creative player, the player of the year last year, was taken off after 70 mins because he was GETTING FUCKING NOWHERE.

I know I've been absolutely slated on here for years for criticism of Yaya and I probably haven't always expressed it as eloquently or tactfully as I possibly should but this the exact reason I wanted him gone. To be successful long term you just have to work harder than the opposition, being skillful and intelligent in possession is only half the battle. Players sometimes have to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the team and we're seeing that now, every player is giving 100%, whether it's De Bruyne or Delph, the team comes first and we're reaping the rewards.

It definitely feels different this season.

Top class performance today.

It's a Pep team now. The days of "Your job Fred is to win the ball and your job Alf is to create" have long gone. Each outfield player has to close down, tackle and create. Totally agree, this is the best we've seen in terms of quality in every position.
