Chelsea (A) | Post-Match Thread

All of them heroes today. Fantastic performance by everyone. Of course we should have scored a couple more but we were totally dominant and it would have been a travesty if we hadn't won today. Jesus took a lot of punishment but never stopped showing for the ball and his effort was tremendous.

Considering how they caught us out last season, to approach the game in that fashion was impressive. Thought we may have put too much into first half without scoring but stayed measured throughout. Not sure why they moved from 5-2-3 that worked in CL final. Lukaku is just a bad pick, lumbering and has a huge ego, won't do the selfless running like Havertz and Mount did. No improvement on his performances vs us for United.

Grealish got chopped by Christensen just before the Jesus chance cleared off the line. No booking but got one later. Dias did the same to Lukaku late and was immediately shown yellow as the game was going on (how often do you see that?).
Rule now is you don't get a yellow if the ref plays advantage - unless the foul was a bad one (Christensen's might have been). Rudiger also got away with a couple of studs up challenges.

Ah, thanks wasn't aware. Watching live only caught it from corner of my eye, challenge wasn't as bad as I thought. Suppose it makes sense.

If pep played with 3 dm's and 2 up top , been schooled for 99 minutes' , he would have been battered by the Manchester evening news and plenty of others.
Chelsea tactics
City will have the majority of possession
We win it back and hit it to the big man up top

Problem was we closed down the ball before they could launch it and when they did, , the big man reverted to type with his first touch
