Chelsea (A) - Sun 18th Aug '24 | Post Match Thread

That was a top display from us today! Don't be fooled by anyone saying "It's only Chelsea" ect... That's a sensational result and performance at a very tough place to go.

Kovacic was incredible today, Bernie was so good, Rico! Fuck me! This kid is the dogs bollocks...It's actually frightening how good he is at such a young age. His reading of the game, His positioning, The spaces he picks up ect WOW
Imagine what the media would be saying if Rico was a rag.....

The computer gave us a difficult opening game away at Chelsea and we managed the game very well, all in all. Really effective second half by us to see it out. Kovacic was excellent and MOTM - maybe we don't need to rush Rodri back after all ? Several other good perfomances throughout the team.
Enjoyed the coverage on Supersport - decent pundits with no obvious bias or otherwise, especially Joe Hart - including an excellent post match interview with Haaland, who seemed much more talkative and engaging than he sometimes is.

On NBC, Rebecca Lowe has just joined Robbie Earle to pick City to win the EPL this season, with Lowe switching from ARSE after having been stung last year. Pep's interview with her today clinched it, she claims. ;-)

Tom Howard and Robbie Mustoe stuck with the ARSE, and should be rightfully concerned on their picks after today.
Yeah, but that's 'murican telly, innit? You have to question the general sanity of any country that grants Citizenship to a bloke who thinks M*******y is God.

Excellent win and fully deserved. Kovacic and Bernardo were outstanding and it says a lot about that performance that we didn't miss Rodri. Pep will be very happy as we managed and controlled the game very well.

Julian reckons, given the circumstances, and the truly diabolical officiating, the lads did very well today.

Special word for Rico—now my lad’s favourite player, apparently—who was absolutely magnificent throughout.

Kovacic was brilliant, as well. Arguably his best performance for us.

I hope a few that were fervently criticising Rico and saying he needed to start on the bench today in order for us to have a chance at winning this (especially a few that had a go at other blues who disagreed with them) have the integrity to hold their hands up in the post-match thread.

Oh, and I desperately hope that was just a contact knock for Savinho, as he was brilliant in his first real 45 minutes in a sky blue shirt.

All things considered, that was an excellent start to the season!

City, City, the best team in the land and all the world!
Hope Julian's jaundice clears up soon mate!
