Chelsea (A) - Sun 18th Aug '24 | Post Match Thread

Tim Howard on NBC/Peacock now half-eating his words in picking ARSE to win the league yesterday and seeing how City has just played.

He said he didn't realize how hungry City was. He simply doesn't know Pep and the team that plays for him.

Hoping City make Tim Howard look like a fool prognosticator with his half-ARSEd picks 3 years in a row as the boys go for 5 titles!
Mustoe was very complimentary during the half. Felt like they were very critical of Chelsea as well.

The league brass will be absolutely crestfallen.

To see that not even instructing the officials to let the home team kick the fuck out of our not-yet-fully-fit players with nary a talking to, with our team missing the best player in the world (and some of the best players in their position in the world, as well), and our only signing of the summer going off injured at halftime, was enough for us to lose.

They’ll be crying in to their mistresses’ laps tonight.

Great way to start the drive to five. A bit sloppy at times but to be expected for the opening match. Rico and Kovacic fantastic. Loved the look of Savinho and hope he's okay. Seemed to be running okay before halftime. Maybe Foden coming on for second half was planned.

You could almost see City playing themselves into the season. Borderline imperious in the last half hour but tense game until Kova sealed it.

That may be one of our hardest games out of the way: I think Chelsea are building a decent side.

Some obvious rust in some players and caught on the ball too much in the City half.

Nice start to the season.
