Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Questioned the lineup beforehand, Felt we were too top heavy and sadly it proved to be the case. Pep got this one wrong. Complete disconnect between the 5 man defense and 5 man attack and no link between the two. Our front press was bypassed by them the exact same way everytime, a little inside ball from the cb to whoever dropped into the 8 position, play first time out wide and they're through and that's 5 players out the game. Way too simple.

Pep took way too long to change it, it should have been done at halftime. Soon as he brought Bernardo on we looked much, much better but by then we're chasing the game and there's not long left.

I've commented in the past on dipper and arsenal games and their knack for scoring late goals. When it comes to it, they play the percentages, bombard the box and fairly often it will get results. We don't do that. We continue with the same gameplan that's seen very little success for the 90 minutes prior, we wasted far too much time after the equaliser just going side to side only to then do the thing we could have done 30 seconds earlier anyway. That or were having braindead Kyle walker shooting from 30 yards.

Who knows if it will prove crucial in the end but right now, the point doesn't really do much for us over a defeat, any dropped points now means we simply have to win at anfield, something we really struggle to do. The only thing we can really take from that is hopefully the momentum we had built up hasn't vanished as it would with a defeat, we get a quick chance to put it behind us midweek and we now cannot drop any points.

Very disappointing result, that has to be our last if we want to keep our title.
I don’t disagree with you but it was “braindead Kyle Walker shooting” that led to the ball bouncing out to Rodri on the edge of the box. We don’t score without him having a go.

Has this morphed into the match day thread? Broadly we played well. Haaland could have have at least 3. One of those days. One or 2 Chelsea left a bit too much in, unpunished, but they defended well and rode their luck and could have scored more on the break. On such a day many others wouldn't have got a point
Less of this common sense , some of us need to run about like our hair is on fire if we draw at home , i am reporting your post to the sensible police. :)

Alvarez shouldnt be any where near midfield.
Doku shouldnt play against any half decent side, he has zero end product and any half decent full back will just jockey him into a dead end.
Haaland isnt a great goal scorer, he just gets a lot of chances and bags a few of them That header at the end was a fuckin terrible miss.
KDB had one of those games where nothing came off but i forgive him because hes fuckin god!
Walker is the thickest footballer ive ever seen

Not a great point really today, haaland could/should have had 3.

Frustrating game but take the point. This whole Alvarez/Akanji centre mid bollocks needs to end. 60 mill on Nunes to do what exactly??

Exactly. He’s turning into another expensive bench warmer, Just like Philips ended up being. That’s over £100mill+ wasted.

if you look at the first 60 min. we could have been down by 2/3 goals but we also could have turned it around in the last 30 min. I guess a draw is "fair" result. I think the Ref/VAR didn`t make any mistakes regards the penalty decisions. Dissapointing performances by Haaland,Alvarez,Walker & Pep. Rodri was the only light & Ederson held us in the game.

I really enjoyed the second half performance, we created a hatful of chances, dominated the game and on another day ran out comfortable winners.

Wasn’t to be, but the lads didn’t let their heads go down and battered their way through when it felt like nothing was going to go in.

Special mention to Eddy, some brilliant saves when called upon.

Take the point, move on, close the gap midweek.

Ake is offended by the last sentence

We looked leggy for an hr until bernie livened us up. Akanji not a patch on Stones in that role.

Frustrating match. We didn't seem quite at it and there were shades of the Everton match. We weren't terrible but we certainly lacked tempo. Chelsea played well and worked hard. They looked very dangerous on the break.

After their goal, we upped our tempo, but we left it all a little too late. Ref was dire. Lino was even worse.

Counter attacking being their biggest strength and our achilles heel…
Our lad in nets is better this season

Agree with all that. The fight to get level very commendable

I was talking about the shot from 30 yards in injury time that wasted about a minute, I've no problem him shooting when he's about 8 yards out.
