Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

What could be a trait of our “new” citeh is running teams ragged especially at home like we did yesterday none of this old possession for the sake of it etc etc
Then inject even more pace into a game for last 15/20 imagine being Chelski yesterday and we suddenly up the game with Jack and Doku

Could be as exciting as the 100 point season or more reflective the Pellagrini Championees season
Please don't say citeh.

Morning Blues.
Firstly let me start by saying the atmosphere was very very good yesterday. Do not let anyone tell you that the noise doesn't help the players. Of course it fucking does. Obviously Saturday evening, a few ales versus Chelsea is a bit different to playing the Saints at the same time but the atmosphere was very very good yesterday. Onto the game.
Kusanov despite his early error looks an absolute animal. That tackle in the 2nd half on Jackson summed him up. Aggressive with pace. Excellent debut for a lad who could have easily folded in the heat of battle. I love how the team put their arm around him. Big up Bernardo there.
Marmoush. What a player this lad looks, Pace, Aggression, knows where the net is. This is the start of the rebuild. Reminded me a little bit of Sane. When we play with pace we are a different beast.
We could easily have been 2 down had Palmer not made a bad decision with his pass AT 1-0. Still all ifs and buts. We showed great character yesterday to come back from a goal down.
Gundogan has been subject of plenty of criticism since he returned (me included) however yesterday was his best game since he returned. Composed on the ball, nothing stupid and looked like the Gundo of old. I was worried when I saw the line up with him and Kova in the middle but boy was I wrong.
Man of the match was Josko. Brilliant brilliant performance and dealt with Madueke well.
Great decision to bring Stonesy on. Looked very very good. Akanji is a worry for me but overall I cannot criticise that yesterday. We were the better team and deserved the 3 points. On we go

What did people make of the Blue Moon choral music played during the minute’s applause?
Was ok maybe a little over the top.

Would have also preferred a minute of silence at the refs whistle as we’d already been clapping for a couple of minutes at that point.

When the rebuild is complete, Pep will probably revert to his previous style. That’s a shame, I like this faster tempo and less sideways passing.
I do as well but that’s tempered with the fact we wouldn’t control games like we used to which would lead to you have a go we have a go, exciting yes but I don’t think we would be as dominant. The reason we have been so good is that we always had the ball possession wise, if we surrender that then it could become a free for all, Pep will not want that. He wants control however with faster wingers you can counter quicker like the Sane Sterling days, hopefully once Rodri comes back and we get a few more players comfortable on the ball we can get back to something like the centurion season which has been the best football I’ve ever witnessed at City.

Great win

Khusanov had a nightmare start but composed himself. Plenty of players in football have committed a howler on a debut and gone on to show they were good players. Pretty much every defender is capable of a howler like that, it's just happened on his debut, that's all.

Marmoush looks lively. I can see him being a very good signing buy let's see.

Very good play from big Erl but it showed the reason why it's almost impossible to find a team to play a high line against us and give him space to run into. It's almost impossible to defend against him in that situation

Terrible mistake from Khusanov, he's looked like a bag of nerves since his arrival, even in training, but these things happen, he needs to get over it quickly, and hopefully he'll learn to cope much better once he settles in ... the way that the players rallied around him, and Pep gave him a reassuring 'pat' when he came off was heartwarming.

That was a good comeback from City against a side who have generally been playing well, and i reckon that Bernardo, Foden, Haaland and Marmoush all played their part in unsettling, and eventually downing Chelsea.... a delighted Pep waylaid Cole Palmer at the end of the game for quite some time, the poor lad couldn't get away, but appeared to enjoy the chat ... and i wonder what the conversation was between the two???

Good post .... agree with all you've said.

Watch the second chance they had, just stops running as Palmer passes it, if Khusanov had stopped too they’d have scored.

We must be happy that Akanji is not made of glass. He and Gvardiol are the only reliable defenders fitness wise. We'd have been in the bottom half without them starting in almost every game this season.

Pep has alluded to that, how grateful he is that certain players have been available for virtually every game and have given everything, the likes of Gvardiol, Akanji, Bernardo, Gundogan, Lewis...the players who, Bernie aside, are often criticised the most.

Not sure what people are watching or they're oversimplifying. Pep's Barca "went long" aswell. So do we, all the time. Ederson has several assists for us ffs.
There's no change at all to how we play.
