Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm getting pigged off reading about Pep's poor game management. That draw was fully down to top players making the wrong decisions time after time. And also giving the ball away repeatedly.qhen under little pressure.
That goal we had 6 players around the ball to break.

Cherki started juggling and chipped to Bernardo who couldn’t control it, gave it away and brought down their player. They get the free kick and score.

Disgraceful game management.

Cherki only had to pass it sideways to one of the other 3 options or down the line for Haaland to chase.

A fucking disgraceful pattern that absolutely fucked us.

We're treading on water mate but he said we were outplayed for the entire game that's absolute bollocks. He said Donnarumma was poor for the goal he made one save unfortunately it fell back to Fernandez question should be where we're the defenders.

On another day City win that by 3/4, outplayed my arse.

A strong City squad wins that by 3 or 4, but sadly, we are far from being anywhere near that
Look City and Pep should sell or release players who are finished at City ? Phillips Stones Bobb Kovacic Trafford Ortega

The 2 keepers, Trafford Ortega would bring in some money and the rest would be the wages we save

Deserved no more really, and we seem to be struggling to find the big man. What a goal he could have scored though.

Not many positives really, Phil seems to have regressed again, though 90 mins from Rodders is good. If he can return to something like his very best I can see us winning a dozen on the bounce, but of we don't beat Arse at home it's pretty much over anyway.

I thought Bernie struggled today.

Reijnders is one of the most frustrating players to watch. Scores the odd goal but defensively none existent so the others ends up running more. Opposition players just run straight past him. When he's attacking he spends too much time on the ball and kills a lot of promising moves.

I mean Chelsea had better chances than we did. The xg supports that
Chelsea weren't great, they know they weren't .... but WE kept them in the game by continually making the wrong choices in front of goal, although the Haaland effort was simply unlucky ...... but you could see that equaliser coming all 2nd half, as we attempted to see out a 1-0 lead.

All on Pep and congrats to Arsenal I will just laugh at tbh.

Long way to go, long long way and it’s no time to be throwing the fucking towel in just yet that’s for sure.
Pep might well have been a good footballer, but he can’t make the passes for the careless bastards giving the ball away all the time and he can’t make the dosey buggers kick the ball in the net.

Pep’s tactics meant we were fucking all over Chelsea today, must have had two dozen good opportunities to score, and we fucked up all but one of them.

He looked the same against Sunderland.

I think we are reaching the natural conclusion of the experiment of him at full back.

I could cut and paste from the previous 7 years, “we need a proper LB”
He's still young and been largely brilliant for us this season, considering he's playing out of position. However if ever there was a time for a tactical foul that was it - worth yellow card to reset the team. He'll learn and will be a great player for us for years to come.

Equally Foden Cherki & Bernado playing tight little passes and conceding possession when we're winning with a few minutes to go is madness - different if we were looking for a winner - but we just needed to push them back with balls into the corners or out of the pitch - the team are running on fumes - too thin a squad with so many games.

Poor decision making from a number of players when we were attacking their goal

Also = how did Reece James not get a yellow early on - some nasty / snide fouls from a number of Chelsea players which went unpunished.

It ruins my week when we lose - especially so close to the end.

I thought Silva was brilliant today, absolutely everywhere.
He was badly let down by Cherki, Foden and Haaland.

Tij should have moved into fodens spot, Foden needs a game on the bench.

All that said, as a team we are still short of having enough to win a title. So all these little tweaks are by the by.
Bernado has heart and will run around because of that, but so what when you're running round not really doing much. The foul he gave he away which eventually lead to the goal sums it up. He looked fucked from running round like a headless chicken, he should have come off 100%.

Agree. At that level its the little things which make a difference...

I'm not buying this out of gas justifications for our recent performances. Our play in the build-up is slow. We invariably pass the ball from side to side as there is little movement from our players off the ball. Nor do we press like we used to. We no longer break with pace so where does the tiredness come from. Maybe mental but for me not physical.

Yea i can understand last season being knackered both physically and mentally. The players bought last January should be up to speed.
Compared to other teams we seem so unfit or is that our style now ?

We seem content in letting the opposition get back into 11 behind the ball and just knock the ball around d. Then they brake with speed

The team seem flat the fan base seem flat

Bet people said exactly the same in Gundogan’s first season with us.

Of our squad we have Marmoush and Ait Nouri away. Stones, Kovacic permanently injured, and Phillips unpickable.

Savinho Bobb and Nico G injured. And now possibly Gvardiol.

Throw in he doesn't fancy Lewis and that's a hell of lot of players unavailable which means the others are overplayed.
He may have to play Lewis v Brighton

We didnt lose that one through oor defending. We lost that on being so wasteful up front. Nevermind, we mive on, 6 points behind Arsenal but we do have to play them at home, beat them and who knows?
