No we did enough to win, end off, that's football ie last minute goal
We didnt deserve to win it..the longer the game went on the more Chelsea got into the game...their goal was coming from early in the second half - we completely ran out of steam in our midfield area in particular...1-1 was a fair result in the end

I understand the frustration at the result, but I don't think it's worth all the anger and strife I'm seeing. We've got a very, very depleted squad at the moment as a result of injuries, recovering players, and some fit players being away at international tournaments. Pep's usual options to see games out and kill them off - which have worked a treat in recent weeks and months - weren't available to him today and so we eventually let one slip in from Chelsea. We're not title-winning material yet, don't let the media convince you otherwise as they try to drum up interest in a non-existent title race. Next year is the target as this squad gets to know each other.

Before kick-off today we were missing Gonzalez, Kovacic, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Savinho, Bobb, and Stones through injury. On the pitch, we had a recovering Rodri (who was goosed after 70 mins today but couldn't be taken off because, guess what, we have nobody to replace him). Then we lost Gvardiol and Dias during the game. We've played lots of intense games very close together and it was going to hit us at some stage with the absences we've got. It was frustrating to pass up so many big opportunities to put the game to bed, but that's a mark of where we are: good enough to finish 2nd and have a go at the cups, but not good enough to win the Premier League yet.

Very much like the guy but he needs to realise you don’t get as much time on the ball as you do in league 1. He had at least 2 shooting opportunities in the second half and just waited too long to put his laces through it.
He was caught several times dallying on the ball. Pep needs to tell him that in this league a team like Chelsea will have players onto you in seconds when you recieve the ball. He hasnt' learnt the pace yet which is disappointing. I was actually really impressed with Chelseas midfield in that first half considering they had a stand in coach.

You watched a different game to me mate...

first half we were better after we got into the game

Second half after about 5-10 mins we looked cooked in midfield. They were playing hrough our poor press upfront with ease at times....they had a number of occasions where they should have done a lot better in the positions they were in ...luckily for us they werent very good at taking advantage of those positions...but this sholdnt hide the fact that we were poor and they got on top of us....

If the game had gone on any longer they would have won it

Why he took Reijnders off instead of Phil or Cherki I don’t know baffling
reijnders is an enigma - besides his goal he did very little again and he disappeared .....Phil and Cherki werent good either but Reijnders is just so poor Im afraid....his goal scoring shouldnt take away fromthe fact that he doesnt defend at all and goes missing for large parts of the game...every game

Of our squad we have Marmoush and Ait Nouri away. Stones, Kovacic permanently injured, and Phillips unpickable.

Savinho Bobb and Nico G injured. And now possibly Gvardiol.

Throw in he doesn't fancy Lewis and that's a hell of lot of players unavailable which means the others are overplayed.
If he’d used RAN and Marmoush more then maybe NOR and Erling might have looked less tired Pep is so stubborn at times

Yeah i thought Doku for Cherki was the obvious sub. With Foden moving to the right. Not that Foden was good by any stretch but he’s got more legs than Cherki and would have probably kept the ball a little better

Lot of good points.

That being said, defence needs a proper overhaul.

Ake and stones need to make way for a proper experienced player to directly challenge gvardiol and Dias. If the new player is any good he will take a start place and can rotate with the two above or gvardiol can go to LB on occasion.

The club bought Khus and Reis but none have made the impact needed and now we are right back to a defensive injury crises. Ait nowhere since he joined. Obviously he away now to play international

The elephant in the room is Ake and stones. Buy a proper world class defender to replace in the summer.

Bobb and sav must also go. Step by step we are getting a proper decent team again. Few issues still with us and no point pretending otherwise. You don’t have to take anyone’s word but rather look at the results and performances.

Nowhere near previous standards of excellence. Decisions need to be much better for that to change.
Totally agree, it’s the biggest difference between us and Arsenal.

That said, defensively in the last few games we have put in a shift, but you just know that under enough pressure we will make a mistake.

Stones is shot now, such a shame, a proper player when his body didn’t let him down.

Sav is another funny one, you can’t help feeling there’s a player in there if he can build some resilience and find a final pass or finish…but it’s too much for us to wait round for.

I like Semenyo as a signing if we can get it over the line, he’s not great technically but he start to readdress the physicality issue in our team, and he’s a proper “outcomes “ player. I suppose the opposite to our current wide options.

I think we are better than last season, I suppose if I see a positive trend I can get over results like today.

Plus Chelsea had had a couple of extra recovery days since their last game which is bound to show towards the end of the game.
