Re: AVB on tonight

The pressure is all on them. I'd be happy with a point. I reckon both teams would shake hands on a point a piece now, if they could.

Let's hope we play well, keep 11 on the pitch, and can get our noses in front as that should make it an even more interesting game. They generally don't react well to going behind and, if they're losing with 10 mins to go, I'd put money on one of them 'losing it' and having someone sent off.

Looking at their recent record at home they have been pretty poor. The teams they have beaten are Swansea,Wolves, West Brom, Norwich and Everton. They have failed to beat any of the percieved bigger sides, lost to Liverpool and Arsenal. Strangely sky bet have Chelsea as favourites for tonights game at 6/4 with City at 7/4.
To be honest thats one of the biggest prices i have ever seen chelsea for a prem league home match....

Re: AVB on tonight

Have a really bad feeling about this game.

The pitch is tight and unless we score the first goal, I think could be our first defeat.

We give up chances, regardless of the opposition, and they have the players who take their chances.

It's at the set-pieces I hold the biggest fear.

Ramires has an even bigger workrate than Lucas, so midfield will be tight.

No bad feeling here to be honest. Our recent record against better stronger Chelsea sides is pretty damn good. If they approach the match as they did against Valencia and sit really deep I think they're going to be on the wrong side of a mauling. Dzeko, Aguero, and Silva will give Terry and co whiplash...

Have to agree with this. If they sit deep, our forward movement should be too much for them to take.

I just think think we are better all over the pitch.

I think it was one of the Liam's, (possibly mcfcliam), who said we should go all out for this guy at the start of this year.
Not doubting he has a good knowledge of the game, (you don't win what he won at a club the size of Porto if you know fuck all), but all I see and hear is a 34 year old boy, (in football managerial terms), at a massive club way out of his depth. He may prove out to be a genius after a settling in period, but i'm glad he's not our manager, talking down our chances like that in a home tie, regardless of if we're topping the league at present.
I'm AVB's age, exactly 1 month older than him actually, and the thought of managing a club like that, in a league like this and with ego's like that at Chelsea is a fucking horrible thought! Obviously i'm not a footballing person like AVB is, as that's his career, but I would say his age is proving to be a bit of a hindrance. Perhaps he should have stayed at Porto for a bit, I don't know. Oh, he has really shit hair too.

I went to the europa league final in ireland and was singularly unimpressed with his tactical nous, porto only just edged it, and AVB was hardly the master tactician the pres would have us believe.

Was just saying to a lad at work, I have a horrible feeling our unbeaten record may have gone by the end of the night.
