Chelsea (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Yeah - I often find myself wincing a lot when he opens his mouth.

Of all the ex-City players they could have picked to work as a "pundit" they go and choose the most obtuse of them.
I find Joe Hart and Michael Brown to be the two ex-city I like best - as co-commentators, that is, because I never listen to pre- or post-match waffle*. I only un-muted yesterday because I thought they'd be talking about what was happening on screen, but it was just more inane ramblings instead.

* I tell a lie - very occasionally I might do, just for a quick dose of schadenfreude, such as after Anfield or the Carabao Cup Final :-)

Watching the highlights and incidents again,

If that is a PL game and the result involves Arse, I think they get 2 pens for those coming together incidents that were rightly brushed away!
I still think the Hato one was a pen but we've had decisions go against us so fuck 'em

This made me laugh, cheeky Cherki, i'm sure William probably thinks He is class as a footy fan to be fair!
Loves his football does William .
Proper tall as well I didn’t realise how tall he is until yesterday. He definitely brought touch of class to proceedings !

There isn’t "much work" to do with the squad this summer.

Many of those who have come in over the last 18 months are still young, and are improving match by match.

Donnarumma, Foden, Guéhi, Gvardiol and Håland are all just into their mid-twenties, and they are among the most senior members of the group.

A few additions might be needed, with John and Bernie moving on, but overall, the squad is in pretty good shape, IMHO.
I agree. There isn't much work to be done this summer.
Fans often forget.....that at the business end of the season wining teams often turn out sluggish, fatigued, but disciplined performances, just enough to get over the line.

It happens every end of season ,and just because it was a nice day at Wembley,it doesn't mean it will be an easy on the eye match.

City did what they had to do,and judging by the vocal Blue roars towards the end,the fans that were actually there understood ......and backed us over the line.

All a bit different ,i imagine ..to the full members cup final against them,86(?) When they had more fans,in their own town, and it kicked off royally.

Talking of royals..the prince charming betta get used to watching City at Wembley ,as this squad is taking shape, and we're not going away! We will be back, more times than villa ,any rate.

Watch these wankers taking their losers medals off.
Personally, I'd be a hypocrite to moan about that - I threw all my non-winners medals away, starting with my first at about 9 years old.

Tbh, when posters on here include finishing 2nd as one of this season's achievements, I cringe.

This season has easily surpassed any hopes I had for it, but celebrating second can wait when for when we haven't been in the Champions League for a while.

A great feeling winning another trophy.

I hope we never have to play Chelsea again in a final. Every game has been boring. When you consider all the money they have spent since the mid 2000s, it is mindblowing they have consistently played such turgid football.

Missed the first 25 minutes on the way up to my parents, stuck behind an abnormal load doing 10mph up the M42.

Put through the mangle once again, heart rate just about starting to decrease, but who cares. Brilliant goal and a great win.

Nice to get one over on them too - obnoxious niggly pricks falling over at every possible opportunity like they’ve been shot. On another day we could have conceded two or three nonsense penalties.

Apart from 15 minutes in the second half when the ref was falling for it, I thought overall he had a reasonable game, as did the VAR, so fair play to them. Pleased to see the ref tell Chelsea to get to fuck a few times and not be intimidated by the appealing.

Off to get pissed in front of Eurovision now. Very happy Blue indeed.
Isn’t he a fairly new ref? They obviously haven’t go to him yet…

He wants to leave for a personal reason though, to have one last challenge elsewhere ... so he'll need around three years for that, and that will probably take him to retirement ... I also suspect that his missus is after returning home too, and family is all important to Bernardo.

I suspect that he's after a club in Portugal, his homeland ... or maybe Spain .... him and his missus are both from Lisbon.

If he stayed at City until he was 34 or 35, and left then, he probably wouldn't be able to give another club his best.
Oh yes I understand all that, just seems typical of our luck that we have a top notch player and he wants to go while he still has a few years left in him. HE's not going to achieve much elsewhere. Owes us nothing of course so no complaints, just a bit of a shame that we're losing one of our best players on a free on those circumstances (i.e. if he was going to a bigger club I could accept it more).

John Stones is a bit of a strange one, sure he's struggled with injuries but says he's been fit to play all this year and doesn't know why he hasn't been picked. Having played the other day I thought he might at least made cameo appearance in the final, seemed a bit upset that he didn't play, as would any player of course.

Slightly strange feeling at the moment, two major coaches leaving, two big players leaving and no definite word that Pep and Rodri are staying. and there seems to be bit of a regular occurance with players disappearing from the squad for no apparent reason (Stones, Lewis, Gonzalez etc.) even when we're not at our best.

Not a classic or dramatic final but I think that was down to Chelsea's tactics not ours. I thought our fans were absolutely superb, for many of us it was our third trip to Wembley in a couple of months and the round trips of 18 hours (plus expenses) are not easy. I'm determined to keep going (if lucky enough to get there) until I drop! Thanks for a great day out my fellow blues!!!

I was glad that the City fans seemed to raise the vocal bar after half time .... before that the Chelsea chants of 'your support is fkn shit' were doing my head in.

But after the break City fans seemed to turn the volume up quite a bit and you didn't notice what Chelsea were singing, they seemed to be a lot quieter and especially after City had taken the lead .... they knew that, once that had happened, the 'writing was on the wall' for them.

More to do with mismanagement, a bit like the rags really. You're never going to get a settled team when you're swapping the manager out every 5 minutes. 5 managers in 5 years, not including 4 or 5 caretaker/interim managers) isn't a recipe for success.

He looked very happy, bet he’s one who appreciates his time in the royal box…oooh er Mrs….
Apologies, mods (staying off-topic) - but I need to confess something related to this:

Last night I had the filthiest dream about Sarah Ferguson!?! We've watched 'The Lady' over the past two nights and I blame them for casting Natalie Dormer as the Duchess of York.

Sadly, my dream used the real thing, not Natalie...
