Chelsea Thread 2013/14 (continued)

Re: Chelsea Thread 2013/14

Ifs buts and maybes

No Agüero, no Nasri, no Fernandinho . For me made all the difference.

And why is it that we have one of the best passers of the ball in the game cannot score himself?

So frustrating. Really hoping Newcastle get over the resignation of joke inhere at the weekend with a win whilst we resume goalscoring service at Carrow road.

a Liverpool win I could live with too !!

Performance of the season for us. Great display all around. I didn't think City played particularly poorly (except your defence was really exposed), we just did a great job of preventing you from doing your thing and your players seemed a bit shocked by it - but when you did get to string some passes together in our 3rd you looked potent. We didn't just roll over a die, the audacity! Hazard, Matic and Cahill were especially good and you were really unlucky with injuries.

I'm looking forward to our rematch in the cup. Our meetings are turning into show-piece events.

Get im (pitchfork.jpeg) :D

Yeah you deserved it tonight, i hope Pelle learns a bit about some of our players from last night.
Indeed looking forward to playing you lads again with my arse twitching.

I'm glad it is you though and not Utd we are gonna be fighting at the top with, Arsenal can fuck off the stuffy arrogant twats :D

Fair play to you and your lot Castiel, **** :D

Yep fair play and a good humble assessment
Here´s to the next time - although it doesn´t look like we´ll have too many back for that one either

Chelsea are really gathering momentum - beaten Liverpool, United, and now City in recent weeks. Mourinho effect imo, he's probably the best manager in the world at present.

If they add a top striker, and maybe a younger left back it would complete the side imo.

This is turning into the most interesting Premier league season in years.
As some sides have proven this season, our weakness is if you don't attack us at all and just defend. We're nowhere near as good at breaking teams down as City or Arsenal especially since we sold Mata. Well actually we can break them down but have trouble finishing the chances. If we lose out on the title it will simply be because of that. If Hazard was more selfish with his shooting I think he could pull off a Bale job though and see us through. He's really hit another level this season.

I think you're right, an elite striker, a LB since Cole has declined and we'll be as good a team as any in Europe IMO. Possibly another CM as Lampard is on the verge of retirement and we can do better than Mikel. A Modric would fit our team nicely actually! I hear Kroos is in squabbles with Bayern over his contract renewal... I wouldn't mind Mandzukic either.

With Spain on the decline and Germany top heavy with Bayern, maybe the Prem will storm Europe for a few years again.

Hazard's a bit good. He's improved loads since he first came over.
He was top class, pretty much troubled everyone of of our defenders.
Him and us not having Fernandinho was the difference last night.

Re: Chelsea Thread 2013/14

Eden Hazard..... drool.....

Such a fantastic player, tied our defence in knots most of the game, absolutely superb.

I think that Willian and Azpilicueta, along with Cahill and Matic deserve a mention too, all of them were top class last night.

As soon as I saw Fernandinho out, I lost confidence in winning, still thought we would score and get a point though.

Fair play to Maureen, she got it spot on. Chelsea will win this title now I think, they have an easier finish to the season, though who knows, if we win all of the league games we have coming up before we play the top teams again, we may well put enough pressure on Chelsea and Arsenal to make them slip up.

Re: Chelsea Thread 2013/14

Deserved win on the night, Hazard certainly pulled the strings.

Re: Chelsea Thread 2013/14

I posted in the 'If you could sign one player from an opposition team' thread that Hazard was the one for me and after last night I stand by my decision. He is an amazing talent that is only going to get better.

Regarding the game I think our injuries played a major part but Chelsea got their tactics spot on. The thing is Mourinho will have been focusing on our strengths and weaknesses all week, it was a huge game for him. I think from now Chelsea are more likely to slip up in the games against lesser teams like they did v West Ham. Still a long way to go and we are still in a great position.
