Chelsea Thread 2013/14 (continued)

Deserved result. Your midweek break gave you that extra sharpness. Mourinho should have rotated we're looking really flat at the moment.

the break and the fact we have our squad coming back to strength after too many injuries.

I dont hate Chelsea, just your manager who`s a despicable mouthy ****.

If only for poking Vila Nova in the eye i`d of kicked the **** out of football

I don't think the midweek game had much to do with it. I reckon that defeat a couple of weeks ago, and possibly the over the top reactions afterwards affected our players. Vinnie and Yaya were right up for it, and Garcia was massive for us.

Mourinho was wrong about the ref, I think he was ok yesterday, and didn't really understand his comment about us getting to him. However, he's made himself the pantomime villain where the press are concerned, and every little thing he says is dissected then pieced together in way that sells papers etc.

My concern would be the behaviour of the Chelsea fans inside the ground. That's twice in a few weeks where the stewards and police have lost control (Cardiff as well). I know it is down to the fans being cunts, but some fans will be like that, and that's where the stewards and police come in. It was fucking obvious from 305 who the ringleader was, and the bill must have access to CCTV, so why not get in and just nick the tosser?

Mourinho: 'My team didn't fail, but City played much better than us and when the best team wins, football is at peace.'

Mourinho: 'The second goal was an offside but we would still have lost 1-0 as we were never close to scaring City in the game.'

No slating him over his comments today?

top class manager but an out and out **** of a man. a proper ****.

He actually makes me smile - everything he says he says with a gleam in his eye, bet he can't believe that people actually take him seriously! And it's obvious how passionate he is about football. Long may he continue!!

It was a pleasure seeing Obi Mikel return to the Chelsea starting XI last night. Yaya Toure is BOSS.

You're having a go for the generic excuses all managers give? Pellegrini had plenty in the league match. He rightly said the best team won, and undermined his own excuse by saying we didn't trouble you enough to warrant any result. You were much better on the day and looked sharper all over but we've looked tired since WBA and you were at home. Good luck in the rest of the tournament. At least we'll have fewer fixtures.

can't blame you for searching for positives after that, but plenty of good teams win on 3 days rest against teams with a week's rest

it wasn't sharpness, it was tactics, our midfield set up totally different yesterday and left hazard nowhere to go, toure absolutely owned matic and garcia was immense

the biggest irony of all though is mourinho, who is the best at manipulating the press to apply pressure on other teams, accusing them of misrepresenting him! dont bite the hand that feeds you jm!

Yes it happens but City at the Etihad after an away game was always going to be tough with you getting a break. If we were going to Spurs or something it wouldn't be so bad. Mourinho should have rotated, our energy and pressing just wasn't there at all and the signs were showing at WBA. He needs to make better use of the squad like Pellegrini did. If it was the reverse and you came to Stamford Bridge after say Sunderland away, while we had a week off, you'd think the same. It isn't an excuse, but clearly your players were much sharper.
