Shit as they are atm, they will come good and we will have a poor patch. So let's take the piss by all means but not take anything for granted either.
True.
But:
- last season Chelsea beat us by 8 points. We all know if they'd had their foot on the gas for the last few weeks it could have been 10-12.
- last season they had an unbelievable record with injuries - e.g. the 34 year old John Terry playing every minute of every game. It is unlikely they will achieve the same this season.
- last season we had a poor run of injuries - e.g. when we were reduced to playing Milner at centre forward. It is unlikely that will happen again either.
- last season they were playing with hunger and we weren't. Those roles have now been reversed.
- We are already 11 points ahead of them, with a superior goal difference such that it might as well be 12.
It ain't over until it's over, but wherever the main title threat comes from this season I doubt it will be Chelsea. Unless we have a fuck up of monumental proportions.
