Chelsea Thread (2015-16)

Shit as they are atm, they will come good and we will have a poor patch. So let's take the piss by all means but not take anything for granted either.

True.

But:

  • last season Chelsea beat us by 8 points. We all know if they'd had their foot on the gas for the last few weeks it could have been 10-12.
  • last season they had an unbelievable record with injuries - e.g. the 34 year old John Terry playing every minute of every game. It is unlikely they will achieve the same this season.
  • last season we had a poor run of injuries - e.g. when we were reduced to playing Milner at centre forward. It is unlikely that will happen again either.
  • last season they were playing with hunger and we weren't. Those roles have now been reversed.
  • We are already 11 points ahead of them, with a superior goal difference such that it might as well be 12.
So to get from where we both are now to the point where Chelsea win the league, they have to have an even better season than last year from here on in until the end of the season, and we have to have an even worse one.

It ain't over until it's over, but wherever the main title threat comes from this season I doubt it will be Chelsea. Unless we have a fuck up of monumental proportions.

i think the best result between they and arse will be a draw...if we beat whu we will put another 2 pts between both of them and if saints beat rags that will be another perfect weekend

Just remind me who we support again, mate?

No, seriously I think those days are behind us. I can see the Chavs' turmoil continuing for a bit longer, creating a gap that should see us through any loss of form. If we don't finish above "Louis Van Gaal's Army" (snigger) we don't deserve anything. Arsenal could yet be a threat but I'm absolutely sure we have what it takes in terms of both quality and attitude.

Even if Chelsea start their road to recovery next weekend, and put the idiocy of the first 5 games behind them, it still shouldn't be enough. We've 33 games left to play, and an 11 point lead. If, over the course of those 33 games, Chelsea manage to pick up 12 points on City, then I'll be very, very surprised. We don't need Chelsea to continue to be shit, they can play well for the rest of the season and we still should be good enough to not lose 12 points on them.

Nah, an Arsenal win completely detroys Chelsea and Mourinho, it could lead to a genuine meltdown that does them serious long term damage, not just this season. Arsenal will always fall short, they can win this game and it won't make any difference in the long term.

Every time this. Imagine if after all the posturing and bitching between them in the press, Wenger was the one to drive the final knife in to Mourinho. Calling it poetic wouldn't quite do it justice.

My thoughts as well. Jose has to be humbled. I felt this especially after he belittled City, United and Arsenal in his post season party. Now, his team is everything he criticized the other teams off in his video mockery. This is EPL and the champions will face the toughest challenge from each of the other 19 teams.
