All pretty intriguing this, as to how the government operates and then sells the club.

Presumably even if Putin disappears today, the oligarchs would be guilty by association, so handing the asset back would be difficult. If the government just holds the asset, they are effectively diminishing the value, and if they eventually sell the club, then would they just accept the highest value given broader concerns about the share of wealth across the game? Any sale would also be subject to toughened due diligence as well, so this could well be a watershed moment for club ownership in the UK.
