Doubt Tuchel would be moaning about the Christmas schedule in a normal season. He might. Who knows. But him complaining about a covid ridden Christmas schedule is fair enough to me

It’s and excuse!

Pep knows if you moan about it it makes no difference whatever! all it does is brings negativity to the players mentality!

Brighton though are a very good team they keep the ball well play with confidence.

Have all those players had Covid? Also is your u21 all got Covid? Chelsea always have a great youth system why isn’t Tuchel using any of them?

We had 2 goalies and 2 youth players on the bench last night.

No they didn't all have covid. A couple of them but others have just come back from lengthy injuries, and others are playing through injuries. Alonso for example, was nursing an ankle problem, given a long overdue rest and we played James on the left to facilitate that rest, forced to go on before the half hour mark because of another injury.

Yeah the U23 had an outbreak of their own.

Embarrassing stuff from Tuchel last night. He let his emotions get the better of him and was carrying on like a spoilt child that hadn’t got their way. He should be sat down and made watch that post match interview this morning.
The only sad thing about it is that it wasn't Klopp.

They've both been simmering nicely for a couple of weeks, getting their excuses in early and one of them was due to pop. It was just a question of who went first.

The cancelled Leeds game gave Klopp nowhere to go with his pre-fabricated excuses so it had to be Tuchel.

He's been trying to make it sound like it's covid and Christmas that's put a dent in their season. It isn't.

Prior to playing the rags in the last weekend of November they were 4 points clear at the top. They then drew with the rags, lost to West Ham, drew with Everton and drew with Wolves. In the midst of that was a last minute penalty winner against a shocking Leeds team.

The rot had set in way before Christmas and covid excuses.

Chelsea literally tried to have the Everton and Wolves games postponed because of the number covid cases the team had.

I'll be honest with you, banging the same drum after every game isn't my cup of tea. Too much negativity could end up having an adverse effect on the squad's morale, so I hope he says his piece and moves on. But I'm glad he's pointing these things out. It also hardly seems fair that teams are playing each other with vastly different work loads in recent weeks. Brighton were playing only their third game since Dec 4 tonight. We were playing our 8th game since Dec 4. Similar difference with Villa.

I think it was their 4th, and two of your 8 were cups, but yeah I take the overall point. Brighton are a good side, I was more than impressed with them in the second half when we played them, so it was always going to be a tall order. I figure best to get these games out of the way now rather than bunching around more important CL games later in the season, but agree that it's a tricky season to manage made trickier by the PL. But you won't get much sympathy on this forum, alas, but I'm sure you know that already! Ha! I still think ultimately City and Chelsea have some of the best squads ever put together by football clubs in history, and you just have to take stuff in your stride.
