Struggled to beat Lincoln last night it seems, though I’m guessing with a weakened team. I thought Chelsea could be dark horses for the title this season, but they seem to have spent an awful lot on players that don’t seem to be as good as their price tags would suggest.

Also, none of them are big names. It may be ok to integrate a couple of unknowns into a strong first XI but I’ve hardly heard of any of their expensive signings. If you’re going to spend the best part of a billion like Boehly & co have done, why not on superstars? How come they weren’t interested in Isak, Guehi, Huisen, etc?

As Alan Hansen once said, "you cannot win anything with kids".

His mistake with United was he didn't take into consideration they had Robson, Schmeichel, Pallister, Irwin, Bruce, and Cantona.

This Chelsea side don't have one player that has won a league title. They have so little experience for the big trophies.

Add in the fact their manager is in his managerial infancy.

Thought they were very average last night. Raw talent everywhere but all over the place for long stretches. Weird team, weird manager, weird club these days.

Lavia really is a fantastic footballer, has everything to be one of the very best midfielders around, just makes Stones look like an ever-present with his injury record.

Also doubling down on caicedo being the next best thing behind Rodri. I got questioned for having him in my team of the year last season, i think this year is when the majority recognise just how good he is.

2 ways of looking at that match today - fantastic result for Chelsea. Yes, they have a massive squad but they have a list of injuries like no other team - and all the centre-halves are injured - I think 2 went off today, who were their 5th and 6th choices. And Cole Palmer's still out.

Liverpool - from hearing pundits saying how they were going to win the league at a canter with a record number of points - they were truly 2nd best today, imho. Against a less than 1st choice Chelsea outfit.

As it's the Chelsea thread, I'll just say well done to them and agree that "Blue is the colour."

Their defensive injury list right now is worse than anything we experienced last season when we were getting smashed by midtable sides, yet they just beat the champions. Can't say anything but fair play to them.

Why do they not have a shirt sponsor at the moment ?

Also I don't get why the manager got a second yellow for celebrating with the scorer/team, he didn't celebrate in front of the dippers, I'm sure plenty of others have done the same with a last minute winner.

They're not supposed to leave their area

He ran down the touchline, right through the opposition box and past their dugout. Been told 1000 times to stay in his box, so…

I’m sure he couldn’t care less!

Lavia did well when he came on.

Caicedo will be mentioned because he hit a banger into the top corner from 23 yards out, but for me Enzo was the standout player of the game. Completely nullified Gravenberch and never stopped working box to box.

Can't remember Klopp suffering too many cards with his many crazed celebrations

Chelsea is without a main shirt sponsor because the club is holding out for a larger, long-term deal worth around £60 million per year, and they are currently navigating the competitive market to find the right partner after their one-year deal with Infinite Athlete concluded. The club's ambition to secure a lucrative sponsorship deal is driven by their desire to compete financially with top rivals, especially after performing better than expected in the previous season, which qualified them for European competition.

just watching The Big Match Revisited - Chelsea V Baggies - can anyone tell me what the fook this is/was - to the left of the main stand - it's not the Shed End although not much bigger than my garden shed...

Wasn’t it a supplementary exec stand?
The whole area then was a mess. The approach from the Fulham Road was just an expanse of scrubland, iirc.
