I think this group is often overlooked for their more commercial disco songs. Some of their deeper album cuts are incredible. Rarely where you ever hear bass, guitar and vocals this good in any band. I can't stop listening to savoir faire. The instrumentals are killer.

Just rececntly got Chic Live In Japan cd. Cracker it is too! Some great playing and Slash from Guns an effin Roses comes out to play on cover of Hendrix's Stone Free. (To quote the great Funkadelic song 'Who Says A Funk Band Can't Play Rock?')
Vastly underrated band. For Funk, up there with Parliament, Funkadelic and War for me.
Cameo likewise suffered from being seen as a 'pop' band.....were they bollox!

Chic were total class. Brilliant, brilliant song writers. Saw a docu a few years ago which had Nile talking about how they wrote "Freak out",
after they were stuck at home on New Years eve after they were turned away from the door at Studio54, so they went home, started jamming and, came up with the tune where they shouted "aaaaaah fuck off!!!" as the chorus, which later mutated to "aaaaah freak out!".
Quality.

nile rodgers is one of my all time heroes. chic have the tightest feel and best production in the history of music full stop.

his later work with david bowie is still underappreciated, let's dance still sounds fresh and totally unique.
