95% of the tourist activities are in the downtown area and near north side of the city. probably an area about 5 miles north to south and a mile or two in from the lakefront.

The Chicago Cubs are worth seeing for their stadium and their City like success. The only problem is they'll have to make it to the World Series for there to be a game. Hmmmm....not likely. They play at Wrigley Field btw.

Chicago is an incredible city. Its basically a cheaper more manageable New York. An afternoon game at Wrigley is probably the best American sports experience there is. Since most of there games are during the week and in the afternoon you will wonder, "don't these people have jobs??".

Had a cousin who used to live in Lake Forest (about an hour or so by train from City Centre) so used to visit quite a bit.
October is a good time to go. Try and time it for Halloween if you can as it is a big thing out there.
It is a great City to visit and a good night out as well.
One word of warning. Don't stray into the South side. Makes Moss Side look like Brighton.
The weather can be hit and miss. Chicago is known for it's horizontal rain!!

The *universal* opinion is that most Cubs fans are at the ballpark to drink Bud Light and talk on their cellphones, then more than a few of them go outside the ballpark and piss on someone's lawn. If you show up at The Cell in your Twins gear, you can expect to get the business from the home fans just like anywhere else -- US, UK, whatever. it was a friendly jab sir. i've never had any bad run-ins with sox fans personally (aside from a few drunken arguments), just had to throw that in as a twins fan.
