christian negouai - your memories

I believe that the reason he got off lightly from the drugs thing was that no one in their right mind could argue that he had been on anything performance enhancing.

A true legend. He always worked his bollox off and showed glimmers of class through out his time in a blue shirt.

His handball goal against Rotherham was genius.

My memories of negouai was he should have been the viera or ya ya toure of is time at MANCHESTER CITY but he wasnt good enough to be fair though KEEGAN didnt give him many games a bit like mettomo y buy players if your not going to play them!!!!!

I remember when KK said that Tony Grant was the best passer of a ball in English football......yes better than Beckham at the time.

Midfield to behold.....Grant and Negouai. Makes you wonder how bad Vouso was really for him not to figure at all.

It was Joe Royle who thought Tony Grant was mint. Keegan flirted him off, he was not that mental!

I was at Fratton Park for his debut and he'd already been tipped as the "new Viera".

He came out for the warm up and you thought, "aye aye, tall, athletic looking, maybe we've got a bit of quality here". But even during the warm-up he didn't look up to much, but as the OP said, he had a rare ability to find space with his passes, ten minutes into the game it was obvious we'd been sold a pup.

I was quite impressed with the Japanese Goalie Pompey had that day, who might also have been on debut?

Yoshi Kawaguchi.

Negouai got a good goal return one season for the reserves playing as a converted striker.
