City’s New Kits

I took the little ones to the stadium/shop last week and saw a blue walking around in next season's unreleased away kit (black/red diagonal stripes) and wasn't sure what to make of it.

I'm sure I'll warm to it when I see Haaland parading about in it but until now, not 100% sure.

Ship motif representing the Manchester Ship Canal on rear of neck -I though the ship predated the canal and also the canal isn't in Manchester is it?

I read that the ship does predate the canal:

"• The ship in full sail is a reference to the city's growing trade and enterprise"

The Mersey is the source. The canal flows through to what was called the Port of Manchester (in Salford). The whole thing was a huge two fingers up to Liverpool. Priceless. Well, actually expensive BUT without it, Manchester would be tiny or a heavy contributor to Liverpool's finances. Hugely groundbreaking history centric to our city.

Birmingham may be the city of canals with more miles (56km/35 miles) of canals than Venice (42km/26 miles) but Manchester started the modern canal trend. The Bridgewater Canal runs from Runcorn to Leigh via Manchester. There was no river or stream. It was all dug in deep and long. Since 1761, steamboats, barges and small boats have utilised this modern canal. Used to ferry cotton goods and materials from the sea by Runcorn to Manchester and beyond, and vice versa, the canal was a great innovation. But, after over a hundred years if use it got mucky and couldn’t handle the traffic. Small ships could no longer navigate the near-impassable rivers Mersey and Irwell. The Irish Sea was an awfully long way away.

Geeky stuff here:

Bypassing Liverpool since ’94

Would probably look alright on the players. Personally never been a fan of red or any all striped kits. The fact that it’s diagonal hasn’t made it anymore appealing.

Yeah I like the red and black stripes historically but I'm struggling to think of a great kit in history for anyone with diagonal stripes.
