City’s New Kits

At least this away kit is in our actual colours, and looks like a City kit. Together with the home kit, they look sound to me.

Last year’s white and teal away kit had absolutely nothing to do with our heritage, and just wasn’t a City kit for me.

Neither was red and black for our first three-quarters of a century as a club.

Red and black are United’s colours and I always think our red and black kits look like United training tops. They’re United’s colours that we adopted in a small-time manner to look like AC Milan, when we already had maroon as our away colour. And maroon is a better colour than red.

Two class kits this season. Nice nods to past with the king and black and red. Wasn’t sure about the away strip at first but I think the lads will look the nuts in it on the pitch. Yes diagonal is maybe odd but why just reproduce the old kit. And we have previous diagonal stripes in our dna from the time big mal had us in two or three strips!!

I agree on the maroon, and in an ideal world I would have a maroon away kit every year - we’ve had some cracking examples in the 90s and more recently too.

Disagree on the red and black, however. Over 50 years of heritage and the kit worn for many of the club’s finest achievements. The AC Milan element is all part of Malcolm Allison’s personality - another element of our history - and United wear blue anyway, so I don’t see the problem personally. It’s not like we’re wearing a full red strip, or red and white; it’s a distinctive strip and when you see it you think of City.
