The massive v-neck and no collar is probably why it's the lightest shirt ever! They can go even lighter the following year with cap sleeves and no badge :-)
 
Surely, the trim will be maroon, rather than white, with the sponsor being maroon (or white or black).

White shorts, with (sky &) maroon trim.

Sky blue socks, white & maroon trim, although we are due white socks with sky & maroon trim!

Mark the date. ;-)

and in europe/cups i'm pretty sure we'll have maroon numbers which imo looks very strange

I don't think the sponsor will be in maroon, it doesn't work as a sponsor colour. I think maroon will be the prominent trim piece with white supplementing it.

Yeah but it just looks so wrong as the secondary colour. It's a tertiary colour.

If you want to be retro, white has to be the second colour IMO.

Either way it isn't a big deal I just don't see how just using maroon makes the kit retro. If anything, the mockup reminds me of the awful purple accented puma kit from a couple of years ago.

Didn’t we have maroon on the ‘68 title winning kit - arguably the most classic of all Manchester City kits?

It is also not confirmed we have a maroon sponsor. The footyheadlines pic is just a concept based on them hearing about colours. It’s not a leak of the actual design.

Yes. We had maroon in 2010/11 too. But the secondary colour was white in both cases.

As you say might not be maroon trim and sponsor but if so Puma have completely misinterpreted the historic use of the colour.

68 kit (note maroon on the socks but none on the shirt):

It's actually very clever thinking, using the third kit today. Brighton will be rendered helpless due to uncontrollable fits of laughter once they see said kit. 10/10 to the marketing team.
