Just joined the RAF gutted I couldn’t go as confined to camp, watching a crappy NW sports update late that night to get the result, I knew then I’d struggle to get to Maine road on a regular basis.

Different view but remember the goal claxon half way through a song if your team scored ?
Our local station was Pennine Radio so they covered the four pro clubs in west yorkshire.
So sat there listening to some cheesy 80s song hoping for a goal at Oakwell ( city there that day ) and all it was goal at Maine Rd doubt any song saw it through that day :)

We played Bournemouth away soon after and that's when that song started.

ironically exactly 10 years to the day later we played Huddersfield again in a Friday night game at Maine Road and in typical City fashion we lost 1-0, if i remember since the 10-1 we played them at Maine Road in 88(FA Cup 3r Replay) D0-0, 96/97 D0-0, 97/98 L1-0 & 99/2000 L1-0 and never scored again against them at Maine Road

Looking at that line up 6 came out of the youth team (Hinchcliffe, Clements, Lake, Redmond, White, Simpson). Two of the rest (Paul Stewart and Eric Nixon) were both Mancunians.

The first of 5 times I saw us play Udders that season
Typical city we lost the return league game 1-0 to a team about to get relegated the day before my 18th
