City 2nd, United 6th in Premiership - happy?

I hate this thread, or at least elements of it.

If I was given the choice of City finishing 1st and United 2nd, or City finishing 2nd and United 20th, I would take the first in a heartbeat.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is an anti-United fan, not a City fan, if you ask me.

Everyone would take the first option of course.

But that wasn't the question. The question was, if we finished 2nd and United 6th, would you be happy. Full Stop.

Not, would you prefer us 1st and them 2nd, or us 2nd and them 6th.

What does it matter where they finish? Finishing second is the same regardless of where they finish. The disappointment would be the same regardless of who comes first as well. The point dave, myself and others are making is who cares what they do? I don't want to finish second, full stop but if we do what difference does it make where they finished?

I care. I don't think any City fan is being truly honest with themself if they say they don't. Don't you smile just a little bit when they lose at Blackburn? I know I do.

In the immortal words of Kevin Keegan, I would LOVE IT if they imploded. Of course I would be gutted if we didn't win anything, but I have been gutted pretty much every season since I was 5, so I can deal with that. And like I say, seeing them humiliated would be marvellous.

Can you honestly tell me you do not care how try do?

To put it another way, say we are out of the FA cup, and they are in the final vs say Cardiff. You tune into the radio late Saturday, and couldnt care less about the result?

But that's completely different to being happy with us finishing 2nd and them finishing 6th. What the OP is suggesting is that it's some form of consolation that they finished there, whereas the reality is we would still be without a trophy. What are we saying then, that that's ok because united haven't either? Small time way of thinking. Where we finish is the upmost importance, whereas where they finish has no bearing on us whatsoever, not unless you're that obsessed them finishing 6th compared to our 2nd is enough to make you, and I quote, 'happy'.
To answer your question though, I'd favour a Cardiff win but it wouldn't bother me either way as the end result would be the same - city without a trophy.
