City accounts on bluesky

May I +1 on this? Just finding out via LinkedIn that a lot of folks I read for business and non-City insight have departed X in the last week so I am ready to join up unless there are compelling reasons not to. Never going back to X.
It hasn’t got the numbers yet by any stretch, but it is refreshing to just see proper conversations.

How long it will last is anyone’s guess and how successful it will be is yet to be seen.

Twitter will turn its algorithm down until the next election cycle, but it does seem that there is a real migration this time, despite all the lunatics suggesting it’ll never work and it’ll be like Twitter in no time etc.

If bigger (non political) celebrities see that they can recreate their networks on BlueSky, Twitter will die.

It’s odd, but X had been getting more awful last 12-18 months but seems to have improved, for me anyway, in the last couple of months. The US election date was certainly irrelevant to what I’ve noticed. Both my feed more focussed on my interests and engagements much more active too.
Who knows, but it’s almost as if they’ve changed something or got concerned folk might depart…

They only need to turn it up to 11 near election periods. The rest can be calmer and reactionary to certain things that happen that can rile up the rabble.

It’ll be calmed down now.

I had the same thing happen after blocking hundreds of bots and trolls — and I mean hundreds. Wasn’t an awful experience. But I’m off because of the owner now and won’t return. It seems now after a search that many of my small number of favo(u)rite accounts have posts on Bluesky. Good enough for me.

Fair comment that and I know a lot who’ve done similar.

My “problem” I think is that, to put it in simple terms, a minority of accounts I follow have a political stance that most of the time or in some respects I don’t share. However, I’m still interested to read their posts sometimes. But what I don’t want are all their acolytes or loads more of that stuff coming my way. Which the algorithms can’t seem to cope with or do.

That is the crux of it for me.
I want to maintain that say 85%/15% balance, but it keeps feeding me more of the 15%
