But it's not at my nor your discretion. It's the stewards and police who decide whether something is an ejection is necessary.

Insulting someone by using derogatory names for disabled people or homosexuals isn't illegal, but I'm damn sure it wouldn't be tolerated.

i'd tolerate both ... however whether or not it is acceptable is another arguement ... unfortunately ''unacceptable'' is all about opinons so judging/prosecuting is near impossible

The point, though, is whether the club would tolerate it. Not you or me.

I'd accept obscene language with the others I have mentioned, but you begin to skate on thin ice with 'offensive' as it would be difficult to prove. I may find something offensive that you do not. therefore ejecting someone for being offensive opens a whole can of worms that the other posters are all alluding to. Be careful what you wish for!
Breaking the law is one thing, offensive is a whole new ball game. I perhaps could have you ejected for something I feel is offensive but you don't, or vice versa. It wouldn't be long before there is no-one left to eject.

But it's not at my nor your discretion. It's the stewards and police who decide whether something is an ejection is necessary.

You can insult someone by using derogatory names for disabled people or homosexuals isn't illegal, but I'm damn sure it wouldn't be tolerated.
oooohhh I like that idea
Leave it in the hands of the stewards and the police to decide, no recourse to the law, just their opinion. You are so right, 'freedom of speech' should just go away and die, and we should all give up the rights of our birth, the rights our fore-bares fought for, the rights that are enshrined in the laws of the country.
Forget laws, let's punish people based on opinions. Goodnight.

rubbish ... its nothing to do with the club !!! ... more about the countrys regulations and whether or not freedom of speech/freedom of opinon is permitted. the clubs have little control over the fans, look at the myune songs and city ... the club would never tolerate them and yet we still hear them at practically every away game. in reality (unfortunately) the club has little control over the fans

I like the way you've decided that I'm arguing for something based on what you want me to be arguing. I'm not denying your right to say what you want. All I am doing is pointing out that you don't have that exact right when you're inside a football stadium: you have to follow their rules.

But if you think that's me arguing that we should not have freedom of speech in life and have the police make arrests based on what they want, rather than the rules that are in place, you do that. You'd be wrong, but you can do that all the same.

What is offensive???

its something that can be avioded by getting over it.

There are guidelines. It's just that it's open to "interpretation" and circumstance which is where it all gets a bit fuzzy.
An openly homophobic or racist chant could see you arrested and banned for life.

Sing about the Pope or "Argies" at the match,in large enough numbers though......or "No surrender" at anyone who'll listen before the UEFA cup final in Piccadilly gardens....

Difficult,isn't it?

Whether the club exorcise the ability to eject and what control they have is another matter. If you're caught red handed and ejected, you don't have a leg to stand on. Your defence of 'all these other people were doing it' is irrelevant.

Plus away games are under the jurisdiction of the home side.

There's no clear cut answer to the question 'What is offensive?' as we all have different views on life.

In regards to this thread I would say that any black african who supported City or Rangers who heard a song being chanted about Adebayor's dad washing elephants and his mum being a whore would find it offensive.

Some people might think it pretty odd that City fans travel all the way to Glasgow to behave like this - maybe they are supporting the wrong team as racist songs about a City player would not be tolerated at COMS. We wouldn't be discussing this - they'd soon be out on their arse and banned.

you mean whether the stewards exercise their opionon/power... most have nothing to do with the club hence do not represent it's opinon at all ... merely their own opinon/whim !

Oh dear some fans show bad judgement, poor taste and display ignorance, bigotry and hatred. Many more display terrible fashion no-no's and have shit taste in music. That's Britain in a nutshell, not just City fans.

Have a few beers and don't worry about how we're perceived. Nobheads are everywhere - fuckin' ell, half the people on this forum are pricks. Can't wait for the new season.

Get a grip, like it or not people can sing and do what they like all city are not the same and do not have the same views, some people might not like how you behave whilst watching city, deal with it
