Brilliant, well done. City winning even more trophies. :-)
He plays or played for a club called Laxey, and did so for their second XI in goals against my club a season or two ago.
He was wearing his prosthetic and had a very good game. Other than the fact he didn't take goal kicks, you wouldn't have known.
An old School friend of mine (Simon Clarke from Ashton) got shot in the lower leg in the Falklands conflict. After a few operations his lower leg couldn’t be saved so it was amputated. He loved his football and after leaving the Army he played in goal for one of the Ashtonian teams. He had a “spare” prosthetic with a football boot attached to it. If you didn’t know Simon you’d have no idea he was an amputee, during a game he went to catch a high ball and the Centre Forward challenged him, Simon caught the ball but fell heavily to the deck where his “leg” snapped and the boot with a bit of prosthetic on it lay separated in the grass. The Centre Forward was shocked genuinely believing he had caused Simon to lose a leg. After a few seconds all the Ashtonian team were pissing themselves laughing and a very relieved forward realised what was going on.
I bumped into Simon a few years ago at an airport in Cyprus, our flight was delayed so he took his leg off and fell asleep on the tiled floor, his wife said to me “you can’t take the Army out of him”

I’ll never forget that game at Vale Park. We were in our darkest days and the first half had been dire. When the amputees were leaving the pitch and the first team was coming back out of the tunnel, everyone around us was screaming “No!! Bring ‘em back! Leave ‘em on!”
That was the day kinkladze downed tools, wouldn't even run over to take a corner, knew he was done, royle knew it as well
