we've got the richest owners , we're sponsored by an airline and we're now European competition regulars . But as soon as the draw for the next euro round , we all scramble for cheap deals . Why don't City get together with their sponsors to sort out trips that encourage as many fans as possible to go on these away trips , giving the side the best backing , thus hopefully giving us the best chance to progress to the ultimate prize . The cost of a few subsidised planes is an absolute fraction of what we spend on other things but could make a massive difference .
 
The squad don't even have a settled plane themselves!

We generally use hifly which is a Portuguese leasing company. Number is CS-TFX. It's an A340. Bit of a geek with planes, I'm pretty sure on this latest Sweden trip we used a different aircraft. It changes.

Nice theory but if they can't find the squad a settled aircraft don't think there is any hope for the fans!
 
I could be wrong, but surely if you restrict who can travel on a certain flight (i.e. only City fans) it becomes a private rather than commercial flight, which I imagine becomes problematic (and very expensive) for a commercial airline?

Yes.

Much cheaper to use Ryanair!
 
You spend £100M on new players but only possibly 500 fans can be bothered with all the mither of getting over to Romania to support you ( I'm one of them ) . Use your pulling/spending power and sort us some planes out that go from and come back to Manchester - not rocket science !
 
I think you may find that Etihad do not have any spare planes that could be made available. Aircraft cost mega bucks to buy and so they have to be flying as many hours as possible to recoup not only the outlay and then ongoing operating costs. Each aircraft has a designated usage diagram that covers days/weeks/months of scheduled flights - it is not easy to simply pull one out for ad hoc supporter trips. That is why City and other clubs use the 'leasing' companies that have planes readily available for ad hoc trips. Perhaps the club should look at doing deals - "give us discounted rates if we lease three or four extra planes for our supporters as well as the players and officials".
Having said all that it would be great to see ALL City trips on the specially painted plane.
 
Let's put ter Stegans 67mil clause to Better use and buy some second hand 737s, even throw in bony see if Boeing will do a deal.

We have never used Etihad I don't think. There fleet is based in the middle east. They operate from Abu Dhabi so having a plane on standby that could be used for commercial flying is highly unlikely, especially in Europe.

Like I said earlier, we use a private leasing company that don't use their aircraft, generally speaking, for commercial flying. Hifly shuttle high ranking government officials and the like, around the world. Their planes don't come cheap but we'd rather do that than the Sheik use his own airline.
