A really good read and some resonance with my life. City have hauled me out of some dark moments and funnily enough, I had the same conversation with a counsellor and decided I wanted to write, albeit I haven't found the time to do it yet.

Someone else texted me a similar sentiment this morning and get what you mean but all I can say is the lads who run the blog are really decent and didn't want to run this for any cynical reasons but rather as a chance to do some good.

Strikes me as exactly the sort of site it should be on. In fact, problem gambling is an area that leads to huge amounts of depression and it should be on as many different sites as possible. This dreadful disease can strike at any time and to anyone, and the more awareness can be raised the better it might get. I expect plenty of well meaning people told you to 'snap out of it' or to 'pull yourself together'.......
Keep writing about it and put it anywhere and everywhere you can.

Unibet asked me to write something for Mental health Awareness Week so I wrote about how City and football helped me combat depression in the early to mid 2000s.

Worth noting that when I mention Blues helping me out I'm mainly referring to members on here.

Fantastic article mate. I'm ashamed to admit that I'm one of the many people who never really got this whole depression thing and was one of those who would peddle the immortal "snap out of it" line. It's only the last few years when I've witnessed it at close quarters that I now know those words are of no use whatsoever and can inadvertently cause more harm than good.

Speaking of inappropriate, this sort of cold and callous response seems very inappropriate to me. Who cares where it was posted? It was a very nice piece of writing and most importantly, the message itself should be shared in any and every place it can.
