City and West Ham fans

1987, Upton Park, anyone who was there will know
The previous 2 games at Maine Road saw some of the worst trouble at the ground.
The first year West Ham had a big mob in the Main Stand doing the oakie cokie and congas.
They then congregated at the Platt Lane end of Maine Road and then charged at City and basically took liberties.
They tried it the following season only to find half of Moss Side turning up at full time and got the hiding of their lives

Slight issue with this, says West Ham were singing Blue Moon to us, but didn't we only start singing it about 89/90ish
Yup. That's bollocks. From what I recall, the cheeky cockerneys headed towards the city end in a rather intimidating manner.
We all started singing "we'll meet again" and then the whole aggressive atmosphere changed.
Best buddies for life...

At that time, there was also a mutual hatred of the rags.

I went to the Upton Park for the last game of the season a few years back when we should have been playing for a CL spot but lost to Spurs midweek so the game became a dead rubber. Had a right laugh that day with West Ham’s lads on the side of the pitch and in the Queens. They really do hate united and Tottenham which of course is still mutual!
