Exactly. So get back to the debate and stop turning it into a racism debate.Nah, Woke is a meaninigles term that has fuck all to do with this debate.
Nobody mentioned race.I don't like the word tourist being thrown around in a derogatory way to decribe people going to games, that's my perogative, nobody mentioned it as a racism thing..Exactly. So get back to the debate and stop turning it into a racism debate.
LOL. It's like one of those "Tell me you're a racist without using a racist term" memes isn't it?Woke, stop talking bollocks
The same thing happened in the other thread. The same few posters turning it into a debate about racism.Exactly. So get back to the debate and stop turning it into a racism debate.
Think they have an agenda mate. It’s like they work for the club. Anyone says anything negative about the club and change the narrative. Odd. Create a thread for it in another place if you want to discuss it. Back to the clubs contempt for the locals. The same thing happened in the other thread. That discussion has a place, but it’s not really what is being discussed on here
Still trying lad ha ha embarrassingLOL. It's like one of those "Tell me you're a racist without using a racist term" memes isn't it?

Agreed mateExactly.
There are other protest threads where the racism topic can be discussed.
Keep this thread to Viagogo so the Khaldoon, Soriano, and the Directors can follow it.
I sort of agree but no one can deny Viagogo is targeted at tourists, and as soon as anyone mentions that undeniable fact they are branded as racistsExactly.

City's support has been international for many years.A lot of people have came over from Hong Kong recently that could also explain the jump in Asian faces in the crowd. A lot of them do live in Manchester and they shouldn't be subjected to abuse. It isn't their fault and they are being ripped off by the reselling sites aswell.
It should be a hell of a lot easier than it is to pass your ticket on to a friend or family member. A lot of people, especially older fans find it very difficult and confusing and when that seat they couldn't pass on gets filled by a tourist (or somebody who looks like one) they unfairly feel the brunt of that resentment.

Where was anyone branded a racist ?I sort of agree but no one can deny Viagogo is targeted at tourists, and as soon as anyone mentions that undeniable fact they are branded as racists
I agree. Jesus let’s not get lost. I’m saying this debate is not about racism and the term tourist is not racist as some on here are trying to imply. Let’s get back to the debate for crying out loud.City's support has been international for many years.
When we're were on tour around the base of the pyramid we got the sympathy vote from fans far and wide attracted in part due to our fans loyalty, and self deprecating black humour.
Our modern era success has multiplied that situation globally.
We have black, white, brown, yellow multi faith fans which reflects the rich historical culture of our club.
Everyone is welcome at City.....in the right seat....at the right price !!
Where was anyone branded a racist ?
Can't argue with any of this....
Visitors is an accurate description. As one of the people (not in 1894) who has referred to “Chinese Tourists” can I offer a few words of explanation, although I really don’t feel it should be necessary.
At the Liverpool game I followed a group of 30 or so Chinese tourists into EL1. They were escorted by tour guides with flags and high viz tabards. They were obviously unfamiliar with a premier league stadium and were ushered to their seats in 102. I have no animosity to them at all, the point I was trying to make was that the club (and it has to be the club as they were en bloc) are selling prime tickets to our biggest game to people who will only ever go to the Etihad once. For me it would have been the same issue if they had been Uzbeks in big square hats or Scots in full kilts!
I despair that the word tourist has now been designated as racist on here. What are we supposed to call people from China on an organised tour? “Travellers from a very big country in the East?”
The issue is that occasional travellers from wherever are taking more and more seats and pushing up prices. Of course they shouldn’t be abused it’s not their fault it’s the club’s.
“see people on here referring to Chinese tourists, when Manchester has one of the biggest Chinese communities in Europe.Where was anyone branded a racist ?
The club could do that with the North Stand.Someone mentioned on here about 10 years or more ago - pretty sure it was @tolmie's hairdoo - that he felt the club had missed a trick with regards to the stadium. His suggestion was that the club could build a 100,000 seater stadium adjacent to the current one, and that they could have a range of pricing to suit all budgets. Due to the huge capacity, there would be shit loads of affordable ticket prices so “legacy” fans aren’t priced out. At the same time, the stadium would be plenty large enough to also cater for hospitality sections and the football tourists who want to take in a game. Enough room to cater for all demographics and enough room to build a huge atmosphere stand at one end that dwarfs the one currently being built. It would’ve stolen a huge march on the new stadium plans recently released by the Rags and it would’ve cemented - and grown - our traditional support base for decades, while at the same time the club would be coining it in far more than they will when our current stadium capacity increases to 62,000 and doing it without pissing the core fanbase off.
Also, by building it from scratch it would’ve been far more like a football stadium that was conducive to atmosphere than the various bolt-ons to the current stadium that we have. Of course, the outlay would’ve been astronomical but if they’d started it 10 years ago it would’ve been far less astronomical than it would If we were to start it today.
But my issue with the term tourist has nothing to do with where they come from. A tourist for me is a football fan with no real affiliation visiting a football ground as a one off experience, something many of us have done. Different to the City fan that goes to a handfull of games every season, and very different to fans getting in and supporting the opponents.“see people on here referring to Chinese tourists, when Manchester has one of the biggest Chinese communities in Europe.
Of course a lot of it is about race”
