City & Arsenal and the Champs League Pots

I'd rather we stayed in Pot 3 tbh and avoid Dortmund or Ajax again. And are the Telegraph assuming that Lyon are already out seeing as we need 3 seeds to be eliminated in order to switch pots.
Lyon are 2-0 down and playing the second leg away against Real Sociedad so they are likely to go out.
PAOK have home advantage over Schalke and the first leg ended 1-1.
PSV are less likely to progress as Milan have home advantage for the second leg having drawn 1-1 in Eindhoven.

Can anyone remind me who will play away first on matchday/game 1, does it depend how you are drawn out?

There is a second draw behind the scenes that determines the order of the games.

So once the draw is complete we will know the teams we have but the order and dates of the games is only revealed by UEFA a couple of hours later

Thank you - that saved me asking the question

I would say that it's likely that we'll still be in Pot 2 after today's/tomorrow's return legs. Olympique Lyon look like they're going out, and Schalke have a really difficult job in Salónika against PAOK, but I reckon that Milan will be able to get through against what is a pretty youthful PSV team. We would need all three (Lyon, Schalke and Milan) to fail.

At the moment, we are in Pot 3.

POT 2
Atlético Madrid
Shakhtar Donetsk
AC Milan (should manage to beat PSV at home after drawing 1-1 away)
Schalke 04* (in danger of going out to PAOK Salónika)
Olympique Marseille
CSKA Moscow
Paris Saint-Germain
Juventus

POT 3
Zenit St.Petersburg (practically through after winning 4-1 away to Paços)
Manchester City
Ajax
Borussia Dortmund
FC Basel (should go through after winning 4-2 away to Ludogorets)
Olympiakos Piraeus
Galatasaray
Bayer Leverkusen

POT 4
FC Kobenhavn
Napoli
etc.

Should both AC Milan and Schalke 04 go out, Zenit St. Petersburg and City would move up into Pot 2, and FC Kobenhavn and Napoli would then move up into Pot 3.

As things stand (and presuming that Olympique Lyon do not overcome a 2-0 deficit against Real Sociedad), we have these possible rivals from Pot 2:
Atlético Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, AC Milan, Schalke 04, Olympique Marseille, CSKA Moscow, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

If we end up in Pot 2 (with both AC Milan and Schalke going out), we would end up with these possible rivals from Pot 3:
Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, FC Basel, Olympiakos Piraeus, Galatasaray, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Kobenhavn and Napoli

Both of these pots contain some pretty difficult teams. Take your pick!

Gimmee the toughest draw, sink or swim please

Unfortunately our last two CL campaigns mean that, mentally, we start carrying a lead weight, if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor.

Not necessarily. If PSV and Real Soceidad progress, we're in Pot 2.

Ideally though, I would like higher ranked coefficient teams to progress tonight so that we are actually in Pot 3 this year. I think it's best we're in that one than Pot 2.

We'd still be in pot 3 if PSV and Sociedad qualify, the only way we can make pot 2 is if Pacos Ferreira qualify which is never going to happen.
