Agree here, there's too many grey areas that allows for pedants like me to pick holes at.

If the main answer is all about East Anglia, South Wales, North East, West Mids, North London and Stoke being the odd one out then lets consider the following.

The answer contains one county, one country and three ''geographical areas'' (North East, East Anglia and North London.)
If those three are acceptable, then Stoke can be perceived as either 'North Staffs' or 'North Midlands' - if anyone asked me where Stoke on Trent is, I would describe it as one or both of those, in the same way I would inform anyone that Derby, Leicester and Nottingham are in the East Midlands.

Swansea could have been given as being in West Glamorgan (though again, Glamorgan is the correct county name, which is divided in to three areas, West, South and Vale of).

I'm sat on the east of side of my bedroom, on the west of my street, in south Edinburgh, which is in the north of the UK, which is in northern Europe.

I wasted far too much time trying to think of that answer.
