I love the reference to Barrie Betts (early sixties). I was working at a school in Wythenshawe and ran one of the school teams, so rang City to see if they would send a player down to give the boys a bit of coaching, and they sent the then skipper, Barrie Betts, who spent a couple of hours passing on some ideas.
Can you imagine nowadays ringing Bobby Manc and him sending Vinnie down to a school just like that? And if you want ancient, I left Sam Barkas out - and no, I'm not ninety.
