City ban coloured boots for young players

In my old Sunday league days, I played centre half, and wore a black pair of Patricks' (don't remember the "model") they were like work boots. Got my feet stomped on loads, never felt a thing. Broke at least three opponent shins (shin pads were useless against these puppies) and more importantly, when playing at Hough End, you could toe smack the ball clear across the neighbouring pitch, just to get a 5 minute breather. Proper boots they were....

'By the time of' - you set a precedent by doing it early, hence why it's being implemented. I have enough friends who work in the game who will welcome this, you, like a great deal others, see short term impact....

It's about taking control back from the proverbial 'smoke up arse' dwellers... You can send as many bright pink boots as you want, a regimented code is in place and they won't be endorsed, thus avoiding exploitation..... I'm as in touch as it gets, dom!!
Another Dom here just for clarification
I agree with the black boots decision and had noticed this policy in the All Blacks rugby team.
I would also get rid of personal names on the back of shirts

Said it earlier in the thread, and I'm sure that's what its about, and a bloody good thing too.

If it was up to me, they would provide them with their first cars too, just something modest, and not allow them to park at the academy unless they are in the official "academy" provided vehicle, at least until they are part of the first team squad, it might focus one or two more closely to their football skills, not the look at me, billy big bollocks stuff like a few of them seem to prefer.

City's team over the next 2/3 years will be full of young lads who should be part of the working mechanism. It's about creating a culture, one that becomes an inherent trait within the club. The club had to make sacrifices regarding player purchases when the money came in, we are doing the same with the youth purchases at the moment, however, the impact of decisions like this one, will be felt by the next batch from the academy, with grounded kids who realise the value of ££££....

Some won't know this but the deals on offer for these kids at 17 are a disgrace, there are at least 3/4 who I know of personally who are part of the subsidised FA scheme for car leases, wtf is that shit? £200 for a Range Rover p/m?? Kiss my grits...

If I was a kid at WBA, Stoke or Burnley I might understand it a little, but not here, and even then it should be something modest not a f**king range rover.

Personally I'm not surprised at the deals they get offered, and the club shouldn't allow it, like I said once they are part of the first team squad then they've earned the right.

They already don't have names on the back of shirts in the youth teams. That's always been the case.

Nothing wrong with uniformity

No tiki taki bollox for you then, mate ;)

The expense, for starters...

Too much emphasis on keeping up with joneses and the myth surrounding better boots = better footballer. It's prevalent with grass root kids and sends the wrong message..

There was a study on this regarding US Basketbal college teams a few years back and the impact it has on future players... It may be pointless to some, however, here's that word again 'holistic'...

Playing at Hough End currently.

The grass is nearly knee height this season!

Boasting about breaking people's legs, I hope you got your karma back eventually.

Guys who play like you, especially in sunday league usually get few smacks around the head during or after the game.

I think some are getting confused with this....the lads who will be forced to wear black boots will be from U16s down to U9 and City will provide the boots or should I say Nike will, they will be Nike Tiempos or the like

United did the same when they wore Nike kit

but you won't see the youth team or the EDS wearing black boots....some of the lads in the youth team are on anything from £2k a week to £6k a week and also have Nike deals paying them upward of £500 per month...there is no way they will be wearing black boots especially as Nike are paying them to wear the latest boots be them green, pink, or whatever
