That's fantastic news! I'll look forward to panning it then without giving any reasons other than it's by you (certainly seems to be your MO), but only after it's been remaindered at £1.99 in a discount book shop, and even then I'll almost certainly steal it, so you don't make a shiny penny piece out of me. ;-)
Remaindered. Trying to think of that word for days the other month about a book I couldn't get hold of. You sound like a penurious bibliophile who knows his stuff. Kill the sales with reviews and then steal from the bargain bin. Love it!

I can think of a few words to describe him, but a penurios bibliophile isn't one of them.
Amazing to think that a local councillor is openly resorting to stealing - but then again, it's like what many of them do with their expenses sheet, isn't it councillor? ;-)

I wouldn't normally tell people not to buy one of my books but there is one that has just been reprinted against my wishes (and breaking my copyright) which I would urge people not to buy.

The book is "Manchester City The Complete Record" and is being promoted by Derby Books (I have no agreement with them whatsoever) with the impression that its a new book.

It is not. It was originally published 6 years ago by Breedon (who went into administration owing me royalties) and has simply been reprinted by Derby Books (whose owner was Breedon's owner) without my support/agreement and so on. I am obviously discussing legal action, but in the mean time I would urge you not to buy this book as:

- it's out of date
- the formation details are based on material at the time and not now known to be factual (i.e. much more information is now available and will appear in "Manchester The City Years")
- the statistics and some of my main info printed in that book will soon be available for free (yes, seriously)
- legally they shouldn't even be selling the book

I could go on, but please save your money and buy an up to date book.

Has anyone read Diary of a Champion ? Just released by Harry Harris about our Bobby.Flicked through it at Empire exchange and its a day to day account of last season...

As if by magic the data is now free and available: <a class="postlink-local" href="http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=260780&hilit=gary+james" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=1&t=260780&hilit=gary+james</a>

There are an unbelievable amount of books being rushed out to capitalise on our success -without question the most in the club's history. There's some right old shite coming out if I'm honest so I hope that these cash-ins don't affect sales for the "proper" books like Gary James and David Conn.

I agreed up until the final two words. The new Colin Shindler won't be getting any of my money. Presumably he wants people to pay for his demented, rose-tinted ramblings and outmoded idea of football club ownership in guineas and shillings? And for a so-called 'proper' journalist, he is laughably inaccurate on the ground ownership issue, as has been pointed out elsewhere.

Harry Harris' Mancini book is a shameless cash-in, avoid it like the plague. It is what's known in the trade as "a cuts job" i.e. no new material, just cobbled together from existing interviews by a hack writer with a three-week deadline.

A proper biography of the manager is out on September 6, written by Luca Caioli, who wrote the excellent Messi biography. Details here

I'm sure you've already ordered your copy, Dave....

I haven't read Conn's book, but he's a decent writer and an intelligent bloke and for that reason his book is worthy in my opinion. I don't have to agree with someone to enjoy their book.

I proof read it!
As someone says above, it is a cut n paste of interviews / reviews etc, I can say Harris started the book at the start of the season (Empire asked me to check a few things from October onwards).
When proof reading it (from two days after we won it!) I asked Empire what the book would have been called had we not won the title. The reply was there wouldn't have been a book!
So it may look / sound like a cash in, but the bloke put the effort in and almost ended up with nothing! (and I got £50!)

My honest opinion of it, is it drags out the Tevez tale a little too much, even the Mario stories too to a point. But the longer into the book, from say March onwards, I really got into it and the last chapter, great
