City bus scheme for home games - bus tracking (P91)

Hello, When a concession pass is scanned, it shows as a single ticket, which does create some limitations. Our priority is making sure everyone can board and get home safely, whether you have a single, return, or concession ticket.
I’ll be reviewing which buses need extra capacity and exploring if there’s anything we can do around ticketing to make things smoother. Please leave it with me, I’ll do everything I can to improve the experience and ensure reliability for you all!
Many thanks once again. I do think it’s important that concession tickets should be able to get a return ticket - which would require the machine to print one out at zero cost? Hope this can be resolved.

Matchdaybus, surely now is the time to put extra buses on because in a couple of months you will have a extra 6k people going to the game

Hello, thank you for sharing your feedback! We often see more people using the buses when Metrolink works are taking place but to make sure any changes are worthwhile, we review data across multiple fixtures before making adjustments. If we find services are reaching capacity, we’ll certainly look at adding more buses or introducing an additional service.
Matchday shuttles are dedicated event buses, so they operate differently from standard Bee Network replacement buses. However, you do raise a valid point in what more can be done to support on busy event days and that is something we are looking at getting better at. We really appreciate your feedback!

No problem it's only by constant dialogue and feedback we can all make this excellent service even better.

If you’re heading to the game tonight, plan ahead – it’s going to be busy.

- Some TfGM staff are on strike, so expect reduced support at stops and possible disruption.
- Trams will be quieter before 6pm, but the Ashton line will be busy from 6pm to 7.30pm.
- Walking from the city centre will take under 25 minutes via the signed route.
- Roads and buses are likely to see congestion between 5pm and 6.30pm.

MC12 running 45 minutes late, MC4 20 minutes late, and MC2 running 30 minutes late due to traffic. Apologies for any inconvenience

@matchdaybus can I make a suggestion for the MC13 going to the match, traffic is horrendous on Oldham road, could the bus not turn down Old church St then go down Briscoe Lane to get to the ground it will save loads of time. Obviously on the way back it would have to go the normal route. Oldham road is gridlocked and then we have to go down Hulme hall lane which is again heaving.

Good suggestion, I will get this added to my list! After all your suggestions on here we have been really looking at everything and are going to be implementing some route changes after the next international break. Changes will come into effect from the 29th November (Leeds fixture). Just waiting on final sign offs and I will be in touch to let you all know in advance.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your feedback and suggestions. As promised, we’ve listened to what you have all said and been away and looked at the data, and here’s what we’ve found:

  • MC11 and MC13 are usually over capacity
  • MC14 and MC17 tend to run under capacity
We know getting home after the game has been a worry for some fans recently, so we’ve tried to act quickly to change things to help provide some security. Here’s what’s changing:

Service Updates

  • MC14 will now run from Oldham to Royton and Shaw – this should help those who normally use MC13.
  • MC17 will now run from Victoria to Wardley (A580 Park & Ride) – this should help those who usually use MC11.
Additional Changes

  • MC12 stop change: Green Mount stop will be replaced with Holcombe Brook
  • Timetables: all services will leave a little earlier to allow for traffic and give you more time to get to the game.
We have managed to be able to get these changes in place from the Leverkusen fixture on 25 November onwards. The website update is in progress, but it might take a little time, so bear with us. If you need any info before then, just drop a message here and I’ll share the details. I wanted to share these changes with you all as soon as possible but there are a few more ideas under discussion, I’ll provide further updates if anything else changes.

Just an update with this, I have asked the operator to trial Briscoe Lane for the fixture this Sunday and then we will review after to see if there was an improvement in journey time.

Hi. Thanks for your hard work. Any news on return ticket holders being given priority over single purchasers on return journeys & for printing return tickets for those using a bus pass? I can see the scenario whereby the return bus is full & bus pass holders (who don’t get a ticket) won’t be able to get on

So will the MC17 now start at the A580 P&R pre match ?. Then Victoria and on to the stadium ?. Or is it just post match

Hello, the changes implemented should ensure there is enough room for all returns, singles and concessions so we shouldn't have that issue going forward. I will continue to monitor and make additional changes if I feel we are going to start reaching capacity again.
