city close in on Torres

Glad Rafa feels its necessary to comment!!!

Will be intereseting even just to wind the red bin dippers up which I have already been doing this morning!!

Think is if we give Liverpool 100 mil for Torres an maybe Gerrard I would be worried they could take the money and rebuild their team!!!

This is exactly what may red bin dipper mate thinks too!!

If they can use the money to reinvest in the team!!!

Now whether or not it was just the sad, fat alcoholic trying to big himself up or not, I don't know, but he had Mickey Thomas on his show this morning and the spoke about the Torres rumours.

Quote from Brazil "our mutual friend in Manchester has already told us Torres to City is a done deal hasn't he Mickey? So what do you reckon then?"

(dons tin hat as I know what you all think of Brazil and Talkshite, just posting what he'd said)

Apparently he has said this before weeks or even months ago!!

I think to buy Torres at this stage in Liverpools collapse would be a bad move in aiding the disruction of one of our CL stop rivals. We aided with the slide by poaching Barry who they desperatly needed to fill the gap in midfield left when they sold Alonso. They then rushed into replacing him with a player who just has not cut it.
In buying Torres we help them out of the hole that they are rapidly falling deeper and deeper into. And with the mounting debts, the creditors knocking on doors, no extra seats to sell to increase revenue, the lack of sucess meaning they cannot justify large ticket hikes to help out, they know they are in serious trouble.
We do not need a player that much to help them out.
And for the Ranta Benitez to say torres is happy at liverpool and they would not entertain selling him, what a joke he is. If we offered even £50m they would take it they would have to, they are like whores trying to pay the dealers off, they have very little else anyone else would want to touch.
And im sure Torres would not be happy in aside going nowhere.
As for the player himself, no doubting he is a very good player but with his injuries he is not worth more than £30-35m. With the world cup and the fact he's injured now I think he would be knackered all next season.
The only positive with this would be Mancini's team selection would not be too difficult, when torres is back Ade is likely to be banned.

Pretty much agree with all of this.

Although I am not suggesting that Gerrard should be signed, in my opinion the team would improve more with him than with Torres. Reason being we already have two world class strikers. With Bellamy and RSC as backup.
Midfield is however our achilles heel. A player like Gerard is a top priority in my opinion.

What was Thomas' response?
