Sky Sports News understands Tottenham Hotspur's David Bentley will not be joining Manchester City before the transfer deadline.

It had been suggested City could make a move for the midfielder before 5pm on Tuesday.

Further reports have also claimed a swap deal involving City's Martin Petrov could be in the offing.

But City have confirmed they have no intention of making any further signings this summer.

Bentley has endured a difficult time at White Hart Lane, with manager Harry Redknapp criticising him after his recent arrest for drink driving.

The 25-year-old has played just five minutes of Premier League football this season.

that has to be the silliest rumour for a while , but with redknapp you never no

Can't blame City for distancing themselves from Bentley. I would too, just to be safe. You never know what direction he's going to veer off into.
