City FA Youth Cup winners 2019/20!!!

The core of this city 2002s and 2001s team have been playing this Chelsea team in finals and semi finals since they were 11. City usually coming out on top even though they were physically weaker but they have always been tight games. They have been consistently been the 2 best youth teams in their age group for 7 years. Its no surprise they will contest the final tonight. I believe a couple of players have all but one trophy possible at this level due to playing across the 2001 and 2002 ages groups, possibly something unmatched in youth football so this would be the icing on the cake for them.

The City lads wont be phased and Chelsea will be out to prove themselves in the one which really matters between these two team. There is a mutual respect and both teams have top players (In particular, city players aside I think the Chelsea right back Livartemo is absolute class).

Taking footballing ability out of it the core of this City team have a massive heart and the core believe in and trust in each other. They have come though lots of big games together and will have the belief they will win tonight. Whatever happens it is the cumulation of years of hard work for lads (and coaches) - Its certainly been this special group of Citys players destiny to play in this final and they have talked about getting here for a good few years. Fingers crossed they get what they deserve. Its just a shame they wont be able to do it in front of fans, family and friends.

*special mention for Lewis Fiorini who has been a massive part of this group but obviously wont be playing there tonight. Every bit a part of this team if they win.

I watched the City v Chelsea FA youth Cup final in 2018 at the Minihad.
They were way too big and powerful for us on the day and 2 players stood out
Lamptey (think he cam on as sub 2nd half) and Callum Hudson Odoi was monsterous in that age group.
Should be a cracking final between the best 2 youoth sides in the country and a glimpse into both clubs futures.

I used to watch the Youth Team a couple of times a season and I've been to a couple of Youth Cup finals, but as the first team has improved my interest has dropped off a bit. Am I right in thinking that Chelsea keep beating us?

They do although last time I attended a youth game was 07/08 at the Bridge. We won that final over two legs.

Yes,i think that was back in 2008?

Trippier and Boyata amongst others iirc
I was there - there was a massive crowd at the Etihad which shows how desperate we were for success back then.

Wasn't Vladimir Weiss the star man after Daniel Sturridge? It would be interesting to see how many of those players made it in the end.

You never can tell, thought Brandon Barker was nailed on to be world beater but didn't really work out for him for whatever reason.

Chelsea have repeatedly beaten us in finals in recent years, with the marked difference being physicality rather than ability. Chelsea seem to turn out an endless supply of powerful athletes who can also play while City seem to have an academy production line of of highly talented but lightweight midget scuttlers in comparison.
However, this year’s group (or last year’s considering this is actually the 2019-20 final), for once also have some big lads who can put it about a bit in THB, Delap etc. Hopefully that will make the difference tonight

Well Chelsea have certainly had the better of previous finals between the two clubs , with the one notable exception coming in the 2007-08 season ... and they definitely have a really good pedigree in this competition overall too ... only the rags have won it more .... both youth sides have been a bit erratic in their league form this season, so you never know ..... this City side look a better bet to actually win the trophy than the youth sides we've had in recent seasons.

Yep,I was there too (and being paid for the privilege).

Youre correct,we had massive hopes for that bunch of players,I suspect we saw many making the breakthrough......Weiss was very much the star at the time, and even now I think he could have done more with his career.Unfortunately,I think he became a bit of a nob, ironically as did Sturridge.
