A great advertisement for the progress of the City Academy, and I would have still gained huge encouragement for the future, even if Chelsea had emerged victorious.
I genuinely believe that 5-6 players will become regular Premier League players, albeit not necessarily at City. That’s just a reflection of how high the bar has been raised, and not a criticism of their undoubted potential.
Experience from previous Finals has taught us that players often develop in different directions, and whilst the stars of the moment (Moulden and Weiss) slowly fade from the scene, there’s also a Neil Lennon or Kieran Trippier slipping under the radar. However, unlike in previous campaigns, the club appears to have some joined-up, long term strategy.
The current crop seem more physically confident than their predecessors, and equally important, I hope they enjoy more luck with injuries
Only time will tell.
